Voting Rules
  1. To complete a voting card you must select at least one local DJ (up to three can be chosen) plus one international DJ, one event/festival, one club night and one track.
  2. Votes are not weighted, so the order that DJs are selected in is not important, each DJ only receives one vote.
  3. The competition is open only to working DJs, producers, live acts, events, festivals or club nights held in the period between 1st August, 2009, and 31st July, 2010.
  4. Only one vote is allowed per person. Email addresses and IP addresses will be logged.
  5. Voting opens on Monday 9th August, 2010, and closes Sunday September 5th, 2010.
  6. Results will be announced Thursday 16th September, 2010, exclusively on www.inthemix.com.au.
  7. The judge's decision on the winners is final; no discourse will be entered into. The decision regarding the winners is made at the discretion of inthemix.com.au.
  8. inthemix reserves the right to discount votes that appear to be fraudulent or in breach of these voting rules. This includes (but is not limited to) systematic vote creation other than those by actual individuals; use of disposable email services; and creation of domains specifically for the purposes of vote rigging. Where sufficient evidence exists that a DJ or promoter nominated in the poll is involved in such practices, we reserve the right to disqualify that DJ or promoter.
  9. Incentivising votes through the offer of prizes, cash, event invitations or by any other means is strictly forbidden. Where sufficient evidence exists that a DJ or promoter nominated in the poll is involved in such practices, we reserve the right to disqualify that DJ or promoter.
  10. Winners, in the 'local DJ', 'international DJ', ‘track’, 'club night' and 'event/festival' categories are determined by those who receive the most number of votes, no other criteria is taken into account.
  11. The shortlist of 10 nominees in the ‘track’ category have been compiled in discussion with representatives of Australia’s dance music industry, including DJs, promoters, record labels and media identities.
  12. In the case of a tie, both individuals/parties will be awarded the same ranking with no subsequent place awarded in that category.

Definitions

  1. A "local DJ" is defined as one who has been based in Australia for at least 9 months of the period between August 1st, 2009, and July 31st, 2010, or is an Australian resident.
  2. A “track/remix” is defined as a recording or musical production made by anyone who resided in Australia for at least 9 months of the period between August 1st, 2009, and July 31st, 2010 or is an Australian resident, and has released the track or remix commercially by any delivery format between August 1st, 2009, and July 31st, 2010.
  3. An "international DJ" is defined as an individual who has lived outside of Australia for at least 9 months between August 1st, 2009, and July 31st, 2010 or is not an Australian citizen.
  4. A "club night" is defined as a recurring music night held in a nightclub at least 4 (four) times during the period between August 1st, 2009, and July 31st, 2010.
  5. An "event/festival" is defined as a music event held anywhere (inside or outside) between one and four times, in the period August 1st, 2009, to July 31st, 2010.
