All of your favourite producers have remixed Deadmau5 on his epic new EP

As the card-carrying Deadmau5 fan would know, the first place to catch breaking news of the mau5 variety is usually Joel Zimmerman’s membership-only website. True to form, over the weekend dance music’s most outspoken star had a very special piece of news to share with subscribers: he’s got a new release coming and it looks insanely good.

Just a few months after delivering his latest album while(1, Zimmerman’s announced that he’s got a retrospective remix EP on the way. Everything that happens on the Deadmau5 Live site is closed to members only, but thankfully Reddit immortalised Joel’s big reveal: “coming real soon. 5 years of mau5. remixes by chuckie, dillon francis, nero, eric pryds, nero, madeon, pig n dan, botnik and more :)” How’s that for a cast of remixers?

For now, the star-studded list of names is all the info we have on the release, but you can see the album artwork – a mash-up of previous Deadmau5 LP covers – below. And if this video of Dillon Francis dropping an unreleased Deadmau5 remix in a recent set is anything to go by, it looks like Dillon’s taken on the task of remixing the 2010 track Some Chords. Pig & Dan, meanwhile, have previously reworked Joel’s techno alias testpilot.

For now, Zimmerman’s ever-buzzing Twitter account is keeping mum on the EP, though his label is teasing a release of another kind on the Mau5trap Facebook page. “moar treats coming next week,” the Mau5trap page posted early this morning, a nod to the forthcoming EP Hell Is Other People from the imprint’s Montreal recruit Eekkoo. Hopefully, 5 Years of Mau5 is next on the release schedule.
