Global Underground present a brand new artist to their acclaimed GU series – Adam Freeland. This will be Freeland’s first double CD mix in 10 years. He is one of the most well established and heavily toured DJs on the planet . A well know name in Australia, he has as solid following and countless national tours under his belt.
Freeland has been championed as a breaks DJ since the mid-90s, but he’s also been known for his eclectic taste, mixing up electro house, rock, psychedelic grunge, hip-hop, drum & bass, whatever… Just good music. His debut artist album ‘Now and Them’ brought the genre to the mainstream by flirting with rock, vocals and rap. His remixes of Nirvana (‘Smells Like Freeland’) and the White Stripes (‘Seven Nation Freeland’), were the first ‘breaks/rock’ bootlegs of their kind and have become legendary.
The genre smashing British DJ (now based in LA) has delivered an amazing mix based on his recent sell out gig at Club Continental in Mexico City, and it sees him moving another step away from the sound that earned him props. CD1 concentrates on dance rock hybrid tracks from artists such as Justice, Para One, K.I.M and Phones, while CD2 sees Freeland moving further towards 4/4 as he cosies up to dub techno and even minimal house with tracks from My My, Cobblestone Jazz, Substance and Vainqueur. The mix is littered with exclusive unreleased underground gems from labels like Paris’s Ed Banger and Super Discount and his own acclaimed Marine Parade imprint. It also features a brand new exclusive Adam Freeland track called ‘Silverlake Pills’.
