The Sonar Festival is one of Europe’s most revered annual electronic music events, presenting three days and three nights which feature the most up-to-date developments in sound, art and technology, with the most relevant national and international artists.
Sonar presents more than 300 activities throughout the festival; DJs, concerts, titles projected at the SonarCinema and works in every multimedia format including installations, net art and design. Sonar is the essential meeting point for an alert public, with cutting-edge artists and the most influential professionals from all sectors of music and modern arts.
The festival is split up into two distinct sections – Sonar by Day and Sónar by Night.
Sonar by Day
Sonar by Day has concerts, DJ sets, a professional fair, the SonarMatica multimedia area, audio-visual projections in all formats, a mediatheque, conferences and exhibitions as “Sonic Processes” and Designer’s Republic “Brain Aided Design” retrospective. Simultaneous and uninterrupted activities across a range of areas.
Sonar by Night
Nights at Sonar are of a distinctive nature. They’re an enormous cosmopolitan celebration similar to other great European events but with a Mediterranean feeling, giving it a unique festive atmosphere. Sonar by Night has 4 locations occupied by distinguished national and international names from the world of electronic music. Each night DJs, VDJs and concerts from the spectrum of dance music appear simultaneously in the 4 areas.
This year’s lineup will feature the Beastie Boys, Devo, Mogwai, Justice, Richie Hawtin, Junior Boys, Dizzie Rascal, New Young Pony Club, Digitalism, Radioslave, Rahzel and DJ JS-One, Simian Mobile Disco, Mathew Dear Band, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Modeselektor and many, many more.
