Beats On The Beach

THE FESTIVAL

There’s a new kid in town – set to become one of the biggest all ages events on the summer calendar, Australia’s hottest new years day music festival Beats on the Beach is stepping up to assume its position. 15 minutes from Byron, on some of the most pristine, sun drenched beaches in the country Beats On The Beach will feature over 25 international, national and local performers.

Running 10am – 9pm, New Years Day 2007, Beats on the Beach will also play host to major pro skate boarding demos & comps, food stalls, arts and crafts, moon light cinema and an onsite festival camping opportunity the likes of which hasn’t been seen before at an Australian festival of this calibre. Presented against the surrounding backdrop of Ballina’s vibrant town and beautiful beaches and representing an unequalled value for summer money equation, Beats On The Beach is set to become one of Australia’s premier, arts and music festivals.

THE VENUE

The festival site itself – Kingsford Smith Park – sits literally 50m from the beach, where the mouth of the Richmond River hits the vast Pacific Ocean. 15 minutes from Byron, 2 hours from the Brisbane CBD, 5 minutes drive from Ballina Airport and 5 mins walk from the Ballina town centre, sheltered coves and vast ocean beaches make it one of the singular most perfect sites to stage a camping and recreational festival event of this kind anywhere on the east coast of Australia. HEADLINERS INCLUDE

PENDULUM & MC VERSE
Pendulum is a drum and bass/breaks group from Perth, Australia. In 2003, the group relocated to the United Kingdom and the rest is history. The Pendulum sound is typically heavy beats accompanied by low, buzzing basslines, overlaid with epic synthesized leads. They’ve produced various remixes of other artists, the most well-known being their remix of Voodoo People by The Prodigy.

INFUSION
Three boys from Wollongong who now play as often in Melbourne as they do in Atlanta or Tokyo, Infusion have played nearly every major festival the world has to offer from Glastonbury in the UK, Coachella in California, Roskilde in Denmark and countless others. Their second, longplayer Six Feet Above Yesterday snared two ARIA Awards for Best Dance Release and was crowned one of the Top 50 Albums of 2004 by Rolling Stone.

FREQ NASTY
Darin Mcfayden aka FreQ Nasty has always been seen as an originator in breakbeat. Dark and ominous, drifting and playful, steeping and funky he started his breakbeat career at Botchit & Scarper in the late nineties with his Underglass single and has recently expanded his affiliations to include the Smart Systems label as well as the mighty Skint Records. His Skint releases include ‘That’s My Style’, ‘Goose’, ‘Amped’ and ‘Transforma”. These releases showcased the swinging, steppy style that has gained him much acclaim from the DJs worldwide.
