01. Armin Van Buuren
Like a game of Dutch cat and mouse, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto again swap places, with Armin Van Buuren knocking his fellow Dutchman off his perch for the 3rd time in the awards history. It’s been a big year for Armin’s profile in Australia, with the bona fide superstar bringing not one, but two major productions to our shores in the past eight months with Armin Only Mirage on NYE and the final leg of his State of Trance tour in April. If that wasn't enough, Armin will be returning yet again for Stereosonic this November. Won't he just move here already?
Tiesto hasn't fallen out of the Top 2 since the awards started, and judging from crowd reactions to his return to the festival circuit for his spot on the 2010 Stereosonic tour, it's unlikely that he'll be bowing out of the race anytime soon. His closing set of the Brisbane leg of the tour was so memorable; you named it your Favourite Festival Moment of the past 12 months.
03. Above & Beyond
Trance kings Above & Beyond have been globe-trotting for a over year now, and will soon be cris crossing the country this September. With supports from Mat Zo and local hero Jaytech the trio are finally brining their own standalone show to Australia as part of the Group Therapy World tour. If it's as big as we expect it to be Tiesto and Armin Van Burren better hold their hats!
This young Dutch producer is reawakening the tech house scene with his never-ending touring, superstar collabs with David Guetta and Steve Aoki, and even a Grammy win. Not stopping there, he’s revealed an album is on the way as well as an appearance at Stereosonic 2011 fans are desperate for.
For someone as new on the international circuit as Skrillex, to come in at #5 on our International DJ list is no mean feat for this 23 year old party animal. His popularity amongst Australian fans undoubtedly linked with his recent domination of the national Creamfields tour during which he stage-dived his way around the country to rave reviews.
