After a well received debut for the Renaissance brand with the inaugural ‘3D’ compilation, Satoshi Tomiie is set to return in 2007 with the 9th volume in the acclaimed ‘Masters Series’. As one of the flagship series for Renaissance, Satoshi follows one from DJs that include Sandy Rivera, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells, Nick Warren and Deep Dish in what is sure to be another great release for 2007.

Satoshi delivers a contemporary, 2 disc ride through worldwide dance culture, marrying undiscovered gems with future classics. The upfront tracklisting draws on some of the hottest production talent from around the globe, from his soulful house roots through to the contemporary electronic sound of Europe.Over the 2 discs Satoshi weaves a twisted, magical path that blends house favourites such as King Britt, DJ Yellow and D’Julz alongside exciting, new-found contemporary stars such as Shlomi, Aber, Radioslave, Guy Gerber and Jim Rivers. And, just to show he’s still one of the busiest men in dance, plus prove a Satoshi compilation really isn’t complete without an original production, he crops up under his Opus Ink guise, a co-production with the fast-rising Audiofly.

Satoshi Tomiie is an artist who needs little introduction. From his first explosion onto the scene in the late eighties with the famed Frankie Knuckles collaboration, ‘Tears’, through to more recent work on his own esteemed SAW label, he has expertly walked the line, marrying deeper, more atmospheric sounds with his soulful roots.

“I really wanted to create an accurate portrayal of my club sets,” explains Tomiie. “I felt it important that the segue throughout each disc worked, almost as if they were two seventy-minute songs in their own right.” The ‘Masters Series’ is undoubtedly further testament to this rare ability.

I have bought the 2cd set Satoshi has done for the renaissance series and i have to say its a beautifully crafted journey, subtle and mesmerising, one of those rare mixes where it all blends so seamlessly together you would think it was two 70 min songs.
