If you have ever been captivated by tribal rhythms or lost in the bass bins of a sound system, then Percussion Junction are for you. Fusing traditional percussion and hard hitting drums with funky-ass bass lines they form a sound that not only sends crowds into a dancing frenzy but may reshape the way you think about dance music. When have you seen three drummers on stage combining with a DJ to bring you live electronic music covering everything from global beats to breaks and house to electro? The group brings together drummers Matthew Bourne, Paul Issa and Kane Goodwin with respected Sydney DJ Bentley (aka Benjamin Chinnock) on turntables.
The Percussion Junction sound experience has been rapidly gaining momentum earning them support slots with international acts such as Talvin Singh and Panjea and locals Kid Kenobi, Koolism, Hermitude, Katalyst, Deepchild, The Bird, Rephrase and many more. On home turf in Sydney they play a host of inner city clubs including The Basement, The Metro, Manning Bar, Marble Bar, Candy’s Apartment and The Factory. Add to this a rocking festival reputation that has seen them draw big crowds at Sydney Festivals Becks Bar, Earthdance, Peats Ridge and the Amnesty International Australia Freedom Festival.
Wherever they play Percussion Junction never fail to rock the dance floor with their infectious tribal blend of electro house and funk driven breakbeat. Percussion Junction’s sound is unique yet draws influences from acts which incorporate live instrumentation with electronic sounds, acts such as The Freestylers, Fort Knox Five, Basement Jaxx, The Bird and Resin Dogs. Percussion Junction’s stage show is a blend of sonic and visual delights as they are often joined on stage by guest artists including vocalists and belly dancers.
