Once again we’ve put together an episode of the freshest tunes to have come through ITM HQ in recent weeks. In this broadcast we speak with Simian Mobile Disco, who have two new releases out at the moment; a mix for the FabricLive series and also a remixes edition of their album ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’. We also feature tracks and remixes from the Plump DJs, Trevor Loveys, Pivot, Oh Snap, the Autobots and much more. It’s hot!
Feature Artist
Simian Mobile Disco – Hustler (Joakim Remix) [Wichita]
Starting their music careers as part of indie band Simian, James Ford and Jas Shaw have since found favour with electronic music fans as production duo Simian Mobile Disco. They’ve remixed everyone from French chillout legends Air to British sci-fi rockers Muse, and James has also established a reputation as one of the UK’s finest record producers, working on albums by the Arctic Monkeys and the Klaxons. Last year the duo released their long awaited debut album, ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’, and it saw them launched well and truly onto the worldwide stage. To date we haven’t had the chance to experience the Simian Mobile Disco live show in Australia, but when we caught up with them recently to talk about their FabricLive mix CD and remix album they let us in on a little secret. They’ll be touring Australia as part of the Big Day Out in 2009. Listen in for the full scoop!

30Hz feat. Yolanda – Daddio (Trevor Loveys Remix) [Lot49]
Breakbeat producer 30Hz had an underground club hit on his hands with the track ‘Daddio’ and album ‘Electric Sheep’, both released in 2007 on Lot49. The album has now been given the remix treatment, and appropriately titled ‘Re-Herded’, with guys like Miles Dyson, Far Too Loud and Lee Coombs all turning in interpretations of 30Hz’s music. The Trevor Lovey’s remix of ‘Daddio’ is one for all the fidget fans!

Oh Snap – When I Used To Be A Gangster Rapper [Sweat It Out]
As the first international act signed to Ajax’s new Sweat It Out label, there’s been quite a lot of interest in Baltimore based producer Oh Snap. He’s got his EP out this month, and he’s also heading down under for his first tour to help with the launch. From the release, this is the hip-hop flavoured ‘When I Used To Be A Gangster Rapper’.

Sydney band Pivot are fast gaining a reputation around the world for their indie-meet-electronica sound, with their new album ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’ recently released on seminal UK label Warp. They’re the first Australian artist or band to have been signed to Warp, and it puts them in good company alongside the likes of Aphex Twin and Battles.

Onionz feat. SNOW – Nothin But Love (Tiger Stripes Remix) [Toolroom]
The latest from Mark Knight’s powerhouse UK label Toolroom Records, it’s a track from US tech house pioneer Onionz. This is the Tiger Stripes remix of ‘Nothin But Love’, which takes a much more underground approach. Definitely one for the fans of deeper tech house.

The Autobots vs Screwface – Apocalypse VIP [Broke Records]
To end this podcast, that was a tear out breaks track from the Autobots called ‘Apocalypse’. If the sample sounds familiar, you’ve probably seen the new Batman movie recently… yeah? It’s lifted from a new triple CD album ‘The Ends Of The Earth’, released on the Autobots’ label Broke Recordings. The first disc is a DJ mix, the second fresh unmixed tracks from the label, and the third some of their classic releases.
