This fortnight we’ve got another stupendous selection of upfront music for you to wrap your ears around. As well as the hottest new club tracks, we’ve also got some brand new hip-hop from Australia and abroad, with Katalyst and Z-Trip feat. Aceyalone. We also speak with the Potbelleez about their brand new single ‘Don’t Hold Back’, and we’ve also got new music from 1gnition, Grafton Primary and more.
Feature Artist
The Potbelleez – Don’t Hold Back (Pot La More Club Dub) [Vicious]
Although they’re Irish by blood, there’s no denying we’ve well and truly adopted the Potbelleez as our own down under. The duo, who met in Sydney, have been getting a massive amount of airplay for their tracks in 2007, with their debut EP ‘Junkyard’ picked up by reality TV program Big Brother for use in this year’s season. They’ve spent the past few months touring pretty relentlessly around the country, and will be unleashing their brand new track ‘Don’t Hold Back’ very soon. The buzz on the new single is pretty intense, so we tracked down Jonny and Dave to find out how they’re handling the spotlight.

Emerging Artist
Winston & Yoddy vs Celebrity Drug Disasters – Put Yourself In My Shoes (Electrofunk Remix)
This fortnight’s emerging artist is actually a duo, and they go under the guise Winston & Yoddy. Meeting on an off chance one night at the nightclub Dragonfly in Sydney, Yoddy and Winston quickly discovered they shared the same passion for dance music. DJing and producing together, here they’ve remixed live act the Celebrity Drug Disasters. Remember, if you’re making your own tracks and you’d like to see one of them featured in an inthemix podcast session, just drop us an email to podcasts@team.inthemix.com.au.

Z-Trip feat. Aceyalone – Automatic At It [Decon]
A true legend in the hip-hop scene, Z-Trip is known far and wide as one of the founding fathers of the mash-up approach to hip-hop. He released his major label debut album in 2005. Called ‘Shifting Gears’, it featured a stack of top quality guest artists, including Lyrics Born, Chuck D from Public Enemy, Soup from Jurassic 5, and Aceyalone. On ‘Automatic At It’, he’s teamed up with Aceyalone once again. It’s lifted from Z-Trip’s forthcoming album ‘All Pro’.

Grafton Primary – Relativity [Grafton Primary]
Brothers Josh and Ben Garden formed Grafton Primary in 2003, and they draw on a wide range of musical influences, from classical to new romantic, synth and electro. They recently finished working on tracks for their debut album ‘2020 Vision’, and to give listeners a preview they’ve released a new EP. It’s their second EP, and follows on from the success of their track ‘Hidden Cycle’, which was picked up by Triple J and put in rotation for 6 months.

1gnition – Secret Sunday Love (DJ Sing & Marcus J Knight Sydney Remix) [Central Station]
Ali Love and Marcus J Knight are 1gnition. If you don’t know the name, you definitely know their breakthrough single ‘Love Is War’, which was a huge club hit throughout 2004 and 2005. Since then they’ve released a number of underground hits, including ‘Planet 69’ and ‘Airtight’. This track, ‘Secret Sunday Lover’, is to be their last release, with the boys now heading in new directions to pursue solo careers. It’s the DJ Sing and Marcus J Knight Sydney remix, giving it a little bit of a local flavour.
