Welcome to the second of our extra special ‘Double Header’ inthemix podcast sessions. It’s probably our biggest ever, with two of the finest names in electronic music dropping by to speak with us; Booka Shade and Trentemoller, who tour the country over the coming weeks. That’s not all we have up our sleeves, as we’ve also got hot new tracks from French electro fiend Para One, Lee Burridge’s recent collaboration with Dan F, something from Aussie live act The Heat, and more.
The competition to win Booka Shade and Trentemoller prize packs, is now closed. Congratulations to the winners, they’ve scored themselves each a copy of Booka Shade ‘DJ Kicks’ and Trentemoller ‘The Chronicles’, as well as a double pass to see them play live in their capital city.
Feature Artists – Special Edition Double Header!
Booka Shade – Numbers [!K7/Inertia]
After their first ever visit to Australia earlier in 2007, German duo Booka Shade are gearing up for another run of live shows around the country, this time to support their new compilation release ‘DJ Kicks’. The CD has been acclaimed as one of the finest DJ mixes of the year, which is rather interesting when you consider that Booka Shade are more known as live performances and producers. We spoke with Arno recently about how they approached the DJ Kicks project, and what we can expect from their hotly anticipated new album – the follow up to their acclaimed LP ‘Movements’.

Trentemoller – Always Something Better (Trentemoller Remix) [Poker Flat/Stomp]
Danish producer Trentemoller had one of the biggest albums of 2006 with his debut ‘Last Resort’. Released on German label Poker Flat, it made many ‘album of 2006’ lists, and saw him branching out of the club sound he’d been known for. Having toured Australia several times in the past, Trentemoller will be bringing his brand new ‘Live In Concert’ show down under for the first time, and his fans are going weak at the knees in anticipation. With a new CD out that brings together all of his best tracks, remixes and rarities in one place, ‘Trentemoller The Chronicles’, we caught up with Anders recently to talk about his new live show and plans for the next album.

Emerging Artist
Mark0 – Air (D4Dirty As Fuck Remix) [D4Dirty Records]
This fortnight’s emerging artist is a producer from Denmark who goes under the name Mark0. It’s the first release on a new independent label called D4Dirty, given a storming electro remix by label boss D4Dirty. We’re starting to see a pattern here! If you’re making your own club tracks then get in touch with us so we can feature them in our podcast sessions. Just drop an email to podcasts@team.inthemix.com.au

Para One – Dudun Dun [Institubes/Shock]
No one can deny that France is producing the freshest electro in the world right now, and one of the hottest labels doing it is Institubes. The latest album on the label comes from a producer by the name of Para One, who coincidentally was just in Australia on his first tour. Having started out producing for French hip-hop crew TTC, Para One has now branched out for his own solo work, with his debut album called ‘Epiphanie’.

Lee Burridge & Dan F – Treat ‘Em Mean Keep ‘Em Keen (Exercise One Remix #3) [Almost Anonymous]
This track was initially created way back in 2005, but it only saw the light of day on Lee Burridge’s brand new label project Almost Anonymous towards the end of last year. Co-produced by Burridge and Dan F, it was made while Lee spent time in Hong Kong, in between stints in Australia and elsewhere across the globe. Called ‘Treat Em Mean Keep Em Keen’, it’s been given a new batch of remixes, this one in particular titled the Exercise One Remix #3.

The Heat – The Celebration (Bumper Remix) [Love Is War Music]
Sydney live act The Heat have been around over a year now, and recently made a dent with their remix of Sneaky Sound System’s single ‘Goodbye’. Their first release on Marcus J Knight’s new label Love Is War Music, we’ve got the funky Bumper remix of ‘The Celebration’ for you to listen to.
