Sublime at Home is possibly one of the most well known and successful clubbing nights in Sydney. Known mainly for its hard trance, it features resident DJ’s Jumping Jack, Nik Fish and Pee Wee Ferris. This time around, the boys were joined by some of Sydney’s finest DJ’s – Yoshi, Archie, Amber Savage, Vixen and Flipside. With such an impressive lineup of local talent, Sublime was sure not to disappoint.

After a massive night last week at Transmission, I was looking forward to hearing some quality hard trance, and what better place to hear this at than Sublime. After arriving at Home Nightclub around midnight, we managed to make it inside quite easily with little trouble. Inside, the venue was not at full capacity, but still managed to attract quite a decent sized crowd.

In the main room, many people were dancing away to the sounds of Yoshi and Archie. Their set was hard but also very uplifting, which in turn lifted the crowd and vibe along with it creating an electric atmosphere. I personally thought this was the best set of the night with the guys belting out a string of anthems to the support of the appreciative crowd. Some of the tracks played were TaikoSilence, AromeHands Up, InfexiousLet Me Fly, DJ SpokeIgnition and BarthezzOn the Move.

At 2am resident DJ Nik Fish teamed up with guests Vixen and Amber Savage. Their set had a distinctly harder edge than the previous which only intensified the atmosphere as the guys played an onslaught of quality banging tracks throughout the thumping sound system. This was to the delight of many enthusiastic clubbers as they packed the dance floor jumping and cheering from start to finish.

One of the most impressive things about Home as a venue is its large size and many rooms. With this on its side, Sublime always offers a great diversity of music styles for clubbers to choose from catering for most music tastes and preferences. With this in mind we decided to explore the rest of the venue.

Upstairs in the Cargo Bar, Matt Roberts was playing a great house set to a sea of smiling faces. The room was quite packed, however the crowd didn’t seem to mind as they happily danced away to the many great tunes he belted out.

After dancing quite a bit, we decided to head downstairs to the Sublounge to chill out. The room was surprisingly quite empty with all of us managing to get a seat. Matt and Kayla were playing some great tunes with a small group of punters dancing away to the bouncing sounds and driving basslines they pumped out.

Pee Wee Ferris was up next in the main room. For the next 2 ½ hours, the Voodoo resident treated the crowd to a great selection and variety of old and new hard trance tunes. This included such classics as Jurgen VriesThe Theme and an unbelievable remix of UnderworldBorn Slippy.

All tired out, we decided that the night would soon come to an end. At 6am, we managed to catch some of Flipside’s set and wow what a set it was! Very uplifting, even at such an early hour he had the hardcore masses dancing away from the moment he stepped up. One track that managed to put a smile on many faces was Neo and FarinaBinary Refined, which is the 2003 remix of the huge anthem Binary Finary – 2000.

Overall, I had an awesome night. I think Home is a good venue and with eight DJs playing for eight hours in the main room, the night was definitely most impressive. Both the lighting and sound systems were top notch as usual with little trouble and a good vibe on the night. For the hard trance fans, if you haven’t checked out Sublime I highly recommend you do. At only $25, you can check out one of the best club nights in Sydney also playing a wide variety of music on the same night. With Amber Savage headlining the next one for the upcoming long weekend it will be a hard event to miss. See you all there!
