The Inbound parties have always been synonymous with an old fashion good time. Their 5th birthday was no exception to this.
The Crown and Sceptre has long been one of my favourite Adelaide pubs, now when you mix the atmosphere that is inherent with this place and a group of people that are out for a great time you are bound to have a blast, and I did! From the moment that I walked through the door I knew that this night was going to be something special.
Every one was smiling and chatting….....even the bar staff looked like they were having a great time. Fiction and Filter had really outdone them selves this time with a line up of locals that was really a who’s-who’s of the Adelaide Drum and Bass community all set to play old-skool sets.
When I got there EVN was behind the decks playing. You could tell by his mixing why he was held in such high regard in his day and makes me wonder why he is not playing more gig’s these days. After EVN was Noddy. I haven’t heard Noddy play for a while so I was more than a little interested in what he would have to offer us. It seems that Noddy was in the mood to show us why he is one of the best in Adelaide with what can only be described as one of the best sets that I have ever heard from either a local of an international act!
He was on fire and would not let up. Dropping tunes like Ed Rush and Optical’s Alien Girl had the crowd begging for more and Noddy was there to please them. With Griff on the mic it appeared that he could do no wrong in the crowd’s eyes with the dance floor absolutely crammed full of people bouncing to his tunes. So much so that it was causing a few problems with the needle actually staying on the record!
MPK had the formidable task of following Noddy. He played a great set but unfortunately it didn’t quiet reach the dizzying heights of Noddy’s effort. MPK did however mix seamlessly from the old-skool tunes to the more recent tracks, dropping tunes like Matix’s remix of It’s love (tripping) by Goldtrix which did get the crowds attention.
I would have to say that this being my first Inbound I was absolutely blown away by it. It was one of the best parties that I have been to. The atmosphere was that of a house party where everyone new everyone else but without clique groups. Everyone was friendly and chatting to everyone.
Congratulations must go to the Inbound boy’s for a night that I will never forget!
