Tonight is the second night Lamb have managed to sell out The Metro, so it’s hardly surprising the crowd are here early to find the perfect spot to watch from as they are treated to the funky stylings of Deepchild’s DJ set, which got quite danceable but never managed to get the crowd up from their cross-legged positions on the floor as they eagerly waited for Lamb.

The crowd tonight was a strange mix of punk, fashion school chic, goth, to your average beer swilling yobbo, both young and old, it’s great when you see this different mix of people all come together to see music that’s managed to somehow touch them all.

Lamb floated on to the stage shortly after 9pm, the gorgeous Lou Rhodes was the last to join the clan and even before the lights went on you could see she looked amazing, wearing a super long flowy brown leather skirt which only she could pull off and her hair flowing freely, dancing around her lamb-like pretty face. They wasted no time in wowing the crowd as the stage lights came alive and the smoke machine warmed up they settled into a few tracks from their latest album ‘Between Darkness and Wonder’ before going into a few old gems from their back catalogue that the crowd had been just as keen to hear, they told us about how their computers went down twice last night during the storm, but I doubt that really affected their performance too much being the professionals that they are.

Tonight’s performance was nothing short of breath taking, filled with tingles, goose bumps and pure glistening beauty as they fused beats with live percussion, strings and keyboards with the smooth as honey vocals of Lou Rhodes. It’s great to see the band up on stage having so much fun and Andy was a true frontman encouraging audience participation throughout the set, although at one point he had me a little worried as he stood up on his backless swivel chair and persisted to swivel around and around right at about the same place as I’d seen the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O take a plunge off the same stage last week, but luckily tonight wasn’t going to end in the same disaster.

It was a spectacular live show with swirling lights, strobes a big screen and smoke machines. Lamb managed to create their own atmosphere onstage, not leaving us un-entertained for one moment of the show, highlights included of course the very beautiful ‘Gorecki’ a track filled with such intricate beauty that it could possibly be one of the best love songs ever written. ‘Cotton Wool’ also managed to find it’s way on to my list of highlights tonight if not the whole setlist. The crowd lapped up every minute of the show and certainly seemed quite happy to let the band know in between songs as they rewarded them with the loudest applause I’ve heard for quite sometime, the band reacted by doing not just one but two encores and made sure they left the crowd satisfied.

Come back Lamb, Australia haven’t had enough just yet!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
