I was lying in a hospital bed, about to give birth, when a nurse dressed as a DJ came up to me and said, “Don’t breed here breed at breed…”, so I did, and what a night it was. The grooveinc.org website was about to be launched and the breeding grounds were in full force.

As I walked down the perfectly paved path at approximately 10pm I was greeted by two friendly security guards who cracked a joke about my ID, I then proceeded to walk away form the joke to the front door and was greeted by two more friendly faces who did’nt crack a joke, welcomed me, stamped my arm with a stamp that meant I was allowed to breed tonight and down the steps I went.

The venue was underground, there were breeding grooving couches, funky people to breed groove with, and a dam good sound system with the lovely DJ Jo and Shash up there, spinning old time classics. I got exited, I ran into a tree on my way over to see these guys, picked up the tree and put it in a place where the breeders could not harm it, man these trees were popping up everywhere! What a way for all these up and comers to come up, with an event like this, the crowd was into it, as Jo dropped “The Truth” and “Expansion” and Shash being a talented DJ breeded vinyl after vinyl, smooth and shiny.

I then greeted a few fellow breeders, we stopped every two meters as we kept bumping into the friendly faces from the website. It was good to see some of these faces in person, and let me tell you they were faces to breed with! We then ran off into the next room, DJ Spank and Anarchy Angel were ripping it up hard! Playing “This generation” and then finishing with “Trance Generators”, the energy level was high, the room was packed and the decks were being pumped by these mad up and comers! There were neon lights and we all became human glowsticks for the night, a few of us got picked up and twirled around and then the glowstick user realised we were not the real thing, nice try though!

The breeding crew then ran back into the front room , and there was DJ Flipside playing as he always does: clean driving smooth and solid bass, loved it! To have Flipside supporting all these up and comers just showed what a genuine guy he is and to have that kind of talent to play with for the talented up and comers, it was great for everyone to grow from! No wait breed from!

Back to the back room we ran stopping off to feed a tree we named Terry, it looked pretty tired. We then heard the crowd cheering, and up next was G-Banga vs Tha Reaper, and off they go like a gun that has been fired, these guys were pumped fists in the air and I felt like I was at an event where these people had been breeding for years! They open their set to a classic Walt Disney track to spin the crowd and make us intrigued to see just what they had install for us next! “Relax” by unit 4 came next and then later “Legalize” by John Ferris, then here we go, hard, hard, hard, sampling smooth mixing driving bass, the room got hot and sweaty, everyone was smiling, people were hugging, the groover’s were grooving and we were all just having a ball!

Running at a rapid speed to avoid missing any of this night there was no time to loose. I ran back into the front room, and there was DJ Lil Chris and DJ Elwood who were ripping it up to the max, this was it, I didn’t know what to say, I had breeded so much tonight I didn’t know what to do, the talent was amazing! These guys were masters! Playing “Bla bla bla” by Uberdruck, the friendly punters were exited!

As the breeding session was breeding on I was getting more and more exited. There was now a big crew wondering around and we were all ready for a very quiet time, shhhhhhhh it was mister DJ Whisper and Hijaxx.! And a quiet time it was not! Hard banging beats as these two very talented up n comers scratched and sampled their whole set, they would not leave those poor worn out decks alone! The crowd cheered and people put there hands on their heads in awe as these two went off! Playing “Follow the Leader” and “anything else” by space invaders! Then as the night ended the lights came on and the fantasy was all over… but no wait… we just heard they would leave it open for an extra hour! The crowd just didn’t want to go home! “Yes” I said and kissed Terry as I ran past then settled in a chair to watch the crazy punters go off!

After the hour passed it was over and man, what a night! We all gathered outside for one last quickly spoken chat in a rapid mouse like voice before we all parted me exiting in a trolley as my legs had given way from too much running!

Congrats to Joel, Erin, Jeff and crew for putting on such a mad event, I know that I will be back at the next one! And to all the Djs you were superb! You can come and breed at my tree house any day!
