As autumn hits 2004, it’s time again for all the Uni O week parties, with “Club Mac’s” blistering Summerhaze having the best rep of them all. So I decided to ditch my Uni’s O week party and head off to North Ryde instead for some Hard Trance and Scratching action.

The line up was pretty impressive and not what you would expect at your typical uni dance party. DJs included Nik fish, Yoshi, Amber Savage, Fenix, and special guest Speedracer, who is a current scratch champ.

Equally impressive was the production. Although not over the top, two crystal clear lasers were sending beams bouncing around the Atrium, and there were plenty of vari-lights to back them up.

One innovative aspect to Summerhaze was having Speedracer scratch alongside the other DJs that were playing. Initially I thought this might detract from the main DJ’s sets, but it was total opposite, this guy can scratch like a demon and really added a unique dimension to the event.

The outside chill out area provided a great spot to get some fresh air, however some music out here would of made it much better.

Summerhaze was a fantastic and friendly event and did a great job of getting the students mixing with one another… (i.e. there was plenty of pash action going on!) SAM really are professionals when it comes to entertaining their students and Summerhaze 2004 is another success they can add to their list.
