I’ll be the first to say I always love Friday nights out at Bass Station, especially when they have huge international guests. With this in mind, we headed out to last Friday’s Transmission event at Bass and it proved to be no exception to the rule. We arrived right after 12, just in time to see the start of Jewelz’ set. Now normally, Jewelz is one of my favourites with the pumping bass lines that she so often brings to her set, but a slightly subdued Jewelz was seen behind the decks on this occasion. Even so, still a great warm up set which seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by the early punters on the dance floor. My friends arrived right in time to see the next act hit the decks, uplifting trance master DJ 4strings. This signalled our entrance to join the now crowded dance floor. 4strings played a set, which, although promising a lot, didn’t really enthral me. Mixes of the Orange theme, Scot Projects R (rock!) and of course the mega hit Take Me Away were highlights nearing the end of the set. After 4strings, the night really got started with a pumping set from Sydney’s Nervous, who really got the crowd going and set the tone for the rest of the night. Normally I’m not one to leave the main room. When the guys in the side rooms are in the main room, I’ll see them play then, but after saying that, a Jason Midro set is as good a time as any to take a break from the dance floor and have a wander. So wander we did. In the course of our checking out the side rooms, I found that either I was going stupid or there wasn’t all five rooms opened as per advertised. Since the Kryptonite room didn’t really catch my attention, we returned slightly disappointed to the main room, in time to catch what turned out to be an awesome set from Uberdruck featuring many of their hits from C***master, Bloody Slut and Drug Addicted Psycho plus many more hard pumping tunes. One of Bass Station’s favourites Master Kaos brought the night to a close. I was fairly disappointed by Uberdrucks’ signing of memorabilia on Kaos’s third deck leaving him unable to use it, because some three deck madness is always a highlight. But with a mate needing to be at work fairly soon, it was time to leave, after a fantastic night that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
