We went to this event not actually realising how many people would turn up, having been told by a ‘source’ that only 3 tickets had been sold in Perth. It took us just 2 and a half hours to get to the venue at the 3 Bears Bar in Dunsborough. With a quick glance around we said amongst ourselves it really did have a counrty ‘pub’ feel to it, an amazing venue for this event. We were very happy in our surroundings, it made a great change from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We arrived around the advertised start time of 8.00pm and were greeted by DJ Dr Willis, who told us that the decks hadnt arrived. We thought we might as well have a drink and relax a bit before the big event. We spoke to a few locals who were all very amped to see Benny Benassi (especially in their home town).

The decks arrived approximately 15mins later and resident DJ Dave Coleman started the evening, You could feel the energy of the crowd who by this time were packing into the 3 Bears Bar. Around 9:00pm, after DJ Dave Coleman had finished his set, DJ Dr Willis stepped up. With a pumping set he played such tunes as – Chemical Brothers – Get yourself High. Rely on Rub Remix, Punks – The rocks, Its a War – Instrument Re Edit, Tom Neville – Just Fuck,  So Phat – Blessed by Confusion, Groove Armada – Superstylin. Breaks Bootleg.

About 10:30 pm Benny benassi graced us with his precences on the decks and mixed a wide range of excellent tunes. His face as he was mixing was absolutley priceless, such a big smile. I dont think he realised how much everyone was really amped for this event. Around 2 hours after he had started his pumping set he finally played ‘Satisfaction’, the song famously known for its out there bass line and for the females in his film clip (the one that was released in Australia that is).

It felt like his remix of ‘Satisfaction’ lasted about 7 or 8 minutes. He really got the crowd pumping with this tune, and i think this was what most people had come to see. During his set he handed out signed flyers promoting his website. There was a mad rush of punters trying to get in to get one, it was classic.

After his set numerous people were let on stage to get posters and anything else they had signed, it was really great to see that he was really making the effort to talk to people and be sociable. In the end I think all the people claiming ‘it was there bday and they needed to get something signed’ was a bit too much for Benny and especially the bouncers who were trying to clear out the stage, as it was a tad bit too packed.

I was really really happy with this event, as were everyone else who made the effort from perth and surrounds to come down and see this master on the decks. It was a really good night, there were no problems everyone just having a good time and showing this international DJ how we do it here in Australia. I really do hope Benny returns in the future.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
