The Hard NRG 6 launch meant yet another night at Bass Station which had us all pumped and ready to go with our phat pants at their phattest we departed expecting big things and big things we most certainly got. We arrived in time to catch the remnants of Gazmatron’s set, which from the initial looks and sounds of things the punters packed into the Palace complex were well and truly loving and I must say before to long I also was loving it, this opening set really created a thumping pace for the rest of the night. Next to hit the decks was Nick Compound whom I must say was very impressive playing some great tracks, including a pumping version of what sounded strangely like seven nation army, but by the time everyone’s favourite Bass Station DJ Master Kaos hit the decks the main room of the Palace was well and truly in full swing and that did not look like stopping at any stage during Kaos’s brilliant as always set.
With the room about to blow it’s roof it was time for the main event in Jason Midro and John Ferris. Midro did nothing to slow the pace of the night down and even managed to keep his microphone use to a minimum, anytime Midro stops using the microphone is a good time! All that said and done it was still a very impressive set, which also included premiers of tracks off the new bass station vinyl, Music is the key (also off the Hard NRG 6 cd) and New World Order, both incredibly wicked tracks. The John Ferris set did not disappoint at all playing many huge tracks off the new Hard NRG cd, including Attention, Times and Beauty and The Beast which got a massive response from the room. This led the way to a Midro vs. Ferris set complete with air horns and the lot, but after a huge night it was definitely home time so that I could live through a Saturday arvo at work and with that we departed for much needed sleep after a great night.
