Sydney’s ravers braved the winds for the first dance event to be held at Luna Park since the re-opening. With the new arenas, “The Big Top” and “The Big Dipper Room”, proving a great success.
Lunacide opened it’s doors in the late afternoon with eager ravers ready for a new experience. The Big Top serving it’s purpose as the main room, with wicked lighting and sound to go with a brilliant kick off set by Suae, followed by a set by our own “Raver Baby” Weaver. As dusk slowly cam upon us more the main arena started to fill a little more. It would seem that most of us are truly “Children Of The Night”.
Upstairs, the line was growing for the “Humble Bug” ride which proved a favourite as Jim Jams took to the decks in the “Big Dipper Room”. Unfortunately the room wasn’t a pleasing production wise as the main, but still a nice place to chill. Matrix pulled off another top set followed by a surprise Fenix vs. Marcos happy hard battle. The boys pulling out all the old and new favourites. The bar leading out from the main room was packed, and I have to say serves the best strawberry daiquiri I think I have ever tasted.
A great vibe filled the entire complex as the night grew on , and Phase One brought in a little hard house and uplifting trance to the mix, which went down well as the floor slowly filled with a passionate crowd. And Nervous got all the Hard Trance fans off their asses and on their feet. Team Rocket filled the “Big Dipper” room with their awesome, fun filled mix of happy hardcore. Always a favourite with the crowd and tonight proved to be no exception. They feed off the crowds energy and have a great time doing it.
The atmosphere at Lunacide was one I have not witnessed in a while – friendly! The people were all there for the same reasons – for the music and for a good time – and you could tell. The venue impressed and the production in the Big Top did the same. A little let down that not as much effort had gone into the second room, but it still served it’s purpose. An outstanding venue and outstanding kick-off to the summer party season. Well done!
