Leading up to Friday night I can honestly say my expectations weren’t too high. And I’m glad they weren’t because they were more then exceeded!

Walking in to Bass Station I was greeted by one of my current favorites being pumped out by one of the DJ competition finalists – “Neon Lights – Not Over Yet”. A great track and a great way to start the night! Although I didn’t catch any of the finalists in their earlier heats, I can say the guys (and girl) who made it to the final were great and all worthy of a residency at Bass Station. These guys really set the rest of the night up perfectly, churning out some awesome hard trance tunes! And by the looks on their faces they were all loving the opportunity to be behind the decks in front of a big crowd! Well done to all the finalists and an even bigger well done to T2 and Mastermind who both scored a rotational residency at Bass Station in a dead heat!

Next up was Jewelz who’s set’s I always enjoy, however due to the massive queues to get in and out of the main room I missed most of her set and the start of Blutonium Boy’s.

Making my way back into the main room I could hear the crowd going nuts as Blutonium Boy was introduced. Now, to all the people out there who say Hardstyle is dead and its not a valid genre and so on and so forth, the amount of people packed on to the The Palace dancefloor during Blutonium Boy’s set is proof that you are all full of shit!! And if the looks on people’s faces during the two hours that he was mixing are anything to go by then it won’t be dead for a long time yet.

Blutonium Boy, who was in town for the exclusive Melbourne launch of the third edition of his hardstyle compilation, well and truly rocked the house! The majority of his set was exactly what the crowd wanted at that point in the night – thumping, hard, bass! Me, along with what looked like everyone else more then enjoyed his set, he even threw Café Del Mar in there which always goes down a treat.

As Blutonium Boy finished up and moved on to sign some autographs it was time for Jason Midro to rap up the night. Midro’s set was completely different then everything that had come before him in the night, sending the Bass Station crowd home smiling with some uplifting trance sounds.

In summary, Friday was another great night at Bass Station, anyone who hasn’t checked it out when the main room is open – you are missing out! Big thumbs up to the Sound of Now crew, the DJ comp finalists and of course Blutonium Boy, you all made it another night to remember!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
