Have you ever had an experience, where you realised you really do love Sydney. Not love living in Sydney, which I do, but actually feel an affinity for this big gorgeous city we all call home? I have recently been having a few experiences, or I would even go as far as to say epiphanies, like this and Sunday night at the Heineken Sunset Session at Bungalow 8 was the latest.
I admit, the complimentary drinks were enticing, but they weren’t the reason for my latest epiphany. When we arrived to the last of the Heineken Sunset Sessions parties after a stunning day at the beach, followed by an afternoon nap, we were greeted by a stunning waitress with a plate full of Heinekens. Really, is there a better sight to be greeted with? Bungalow 8 and Heineken had gone all out, with tropical headdresses, grass walls and canapés to keep us all under control. The sunshine was still smiling down on us and the music epitomised what a sunny Sunday afternoon in Sydney is all about.
Love Tattoo was on the decks, sending out a song that I think every single person there was singing along to, Kaskade’s Gonna Make It. His set matched the sunny Sunday mood of the session, including a sassy version of the Eurythmic’s Here Comes The Rain Again and a jazzed up take on Esamba by Junior Jack.
When Grammy nominated Jay-J from San Francisco hit the decks I was already falling in love with the evening, the gorgeous night was matched with an equally gorgeous version of Keep On Rising accompanied by the full vocal talents of Latrice Barnett. With a terrific rolling bass line this uplifting and buoyant track hit the spot. Lady Latrice is simply stunning, her vocals and persona came rolling out full steam ahead and well and truly knocked the club of their collective feet.
Did I mention the people? It felt like I was in an episode from The O.C, with flashy smiles, short skirts, tanned arms and gorgeous people packed from one end of the bar to the other. I don’t think I could enjoy a Sunday evening more, gorgeous weather, stunning people, hypnotic music and of course, free Heinekens (we can’t forget those). I think I have a new love in my life…
