Exodus @ Bald Rock Bush Retreat, NSW (21/01/05)

Created On January 25th, 2005 by katarooba

Stimulating and Spiritual, Bald Rock Bush Retreat had the vibe of a Mexican villa lost somewhere behind the old country township of Tenterfeild, NSW.  Exodus is put on by Happy People Productions, they have been putting on parties in the same location 2002.

The Retreat itself has five different cabins & assorted accommodation, Hacienda apartment and Hacienda guestrooms, the Lake hut & Lake cabin & the Bunkhouse.  We stayed at the Bunkhouse on the first night, it’s everything you could want from a retreat far away from civilization.  We (myself and DJ Eztel) were greeted by the friendly people setting up the party, inviting us in and giving us a warm cup of coffee with a splash of vodka and talking for a few hours.

We set up a bed right by the open fireplace, sleeping in until the last of the early morning birds had sung, upon rising we decided to go into Tenterfeild to do some exploring and discovered that the town was very historical.

Exodus had set up great big UV type installations along the river, all in a manner of meshing UV string in arrangements, which truly looked amazing.  The main dance floor was going through sound check and most of the people had already arrived.  The camping area was great, there were toilets and showers.  We were never far away from the cabins, the beautiful country side, and the not to far waterfall.  The first night started with a special aboriginal coroboree, where speeches were made and that was followed by special aboriginal dances.

Friday’s Lineup
Beka (Turbo Trance Records, Australia), DJ Andras (Budapest/Hungry/MonteVerde/Mullumbimby), Tatsu (Byron Bay), Etzalien (Melbourne, Australia), Polka live (PlanetX, Tiffin, Kismet, Mullumbimby) DJ Bache (solar cult, Lismore)

Saturday’s Lineup
Loopus in Fabula (Fabula records, Italy), DJ Lucus(TIP World, UK), Styx (Dreamtime.ro, Germany), Naasko (Interchill, Canada), Sally Doolally (Great Britain), DJ Maximal, (Wigmen Productions, Mullumbimby), Lunaspice (France), Beauty & The Beast, (Synergy Tribe, Great Britain & Germany), DJ Booth (Byron Bay)

The Saturday entertainment was set up by Mutoid Waste Company,  Intra Cortex, WilderBeats + +,  Electric Tipi, Freak went Flying Club, Fun Lovvinn Hug Bunnies, Visionary Creations.  It was spectacular as always & the list of people and organizations that assisted in putting the party together is endless.  If you have never been to an outdoor party and seen the kind of installations that they set up, then you may never know how amazing and inspirational they can be.

An interesting act that caught my attention was by a group of four people (Rusty & Luke Insane Flame).  Boy, did these guys know how to throw a fire stick, they did twirling and throwing and many, many tricks followed by amazing fireworks. The structure they had built right outside the front of the Hacienda (where the main dance floor was) was like a big metal circle with the letter “E” in the middle.  It had been bound with a flammable substance and when it was lit it really looked spectacular.

After that I looked around to realize that there was maybe upward of a thousand people there.  Everyone was dancing by the dance floor & coming back and forth from campsites.

Exodus put on another fantastic party providing us with camping sites at a great location.. The music was fabulous, Loopus in Fabula were amazing and Lunaspice blew my mind.  E
