Plan B was the place to be on Australia day! Not only did Ian Pooley rock the decks, our local talent also delivered some wicked sets. One thing I find important when heading out to party is the professionalism of the door staff and security, not only were they professional they were also friendly which I find a little rare these days.
La Fiesta Sound System were up when I arrived. Having not ever seen these guys perform previously I was quite surprised as they were a little different to the remainder of the lineup, which was great. It’s personally what I’d call an infusion of sounds that tantalise your ears and move your feet.
While La Fiesta Sound System’s DJ dished up some funky disco melodic house the guys on instrumental creatively blended in some swingin’ sexy salsa sounds with a twist of tribal percussion beats while MC Fro added his funked up hip hop rhyms. To top it all off they had a saucy and oh so sexy salsa dancer who certainly knows how to shake things up.
I made my way to the bar as it was getting a little hot in here, if you know what I mean. I always like to see how creative the bar staff can be so I ordered two shots leaving it up to the bartender to create them, and each time without fail he created some wicked shooters for me. Lets just say at the end of the night I swayed home all the way.
Ian Pooley rocked the decks delivering a rather eclectic set. Starting off with some uplifting house tracks with sexy melodic vocals then building it up with some jazzy up tempo beats incorporating that sexy sax sound then out of the blue through in some chunky fat bass lines. Next up, and to bring the show to a close, was the infamous Potbelleez crew, and they knew exactly what to do as soon as they graced the decks.
They delivered a wicked set jam packed with electro, funk and rock infused house and breaks, making their set stand out above the rest. I love my electro breaks and mashed up sounds so it was the ultimate delight to my ears and an awesome way to wrap up the night. I’ve seen the Potbelleez crew perform before and I was impressed to see that they play a variety of styles and not just the same as what I’ve seen and heard before. Unfortunately there were only two decks instead of four, but the boys made do with what they had.
All and all I it was a brilliant night, so well done to the promoters for creating a nicely blended line up of entertainment. It was refreshing to not hear the same track played again and again by each DJ.
