Those who attend Rise on a regular basis and have supported the club during the years will know that tonight is a significant night, not only because it’s the launch of Transmission Anthems 2005 CD mixed by DJ Nervous the founder of Sydney based Transmission and DJ Wag aka Yakooza, but also for the fact that tomorrow Rise will be infected by Hip Hop and recognized as RnB Central on Saturday nights. This is Transmission’s 9th year in succession, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down, each event witnesses 5000 viewers eager to enjoy a night of trance in Sydney. Now they’re here in Perth!
It’s 12am, I’ve just arrived at the Rise, and I’m all energized for tonight. Having seen Transmission White the previous year, which was a great night and numerous punters would concur with. I had come to expect nothing less, and what I received was a tremendous night of hard trance amid a fairly crowded Rise. Later that night Simon Barwood, Rise’s resident DJ gives the decks a break as he announces the intention of tonight’s event and welcomes DJ Nervous and DJ Wag aka Yakooza, who equally require no introduction as they are recognized world wide by the majority of trance lovers. It’s now time for DJ Nervous from Sydney to jump on the decks and spin away his set of tracks for the opening CD in the double CD. Nervous played a pumping set which went for roughly 90 min, he played a variation of pumping floor fillers including an all time favourite Exploration of Space – Cosmic Gate. I marvel what Nervous will bring us in Transmission’s next instalment. DJ Wag aka Yakooza from Germany is the man responsible for tracks such as French Kiss, Ecstasy and Cocaine which was played by some of the best DJ’s and was a huge hit world wide. Wag now takes over at 2am to spin the track listing for the second CD of the double CD, as he takes us on a journey through hard trance. Some tracks included in Wag’s mix were Ding a Ling – Yoji Biomehanika, No More Fucking Rock ‘N’ Roll – A*S*Y*S, Cocaine – Yakooza, Red Alert – DJ Nervous, I Want More – Scot Project and my favourite track Adagio for Strings – Tiesto. Red Alert – DJ Nervous is a great club tune as the double bass line just drives the crowd insane. I sadly had to leave at 4am, however the night had by now already excelled my expectations
Once again Friday nights punters received an excellent variety of tunes combined with the talents of DJ Nervous and DJ Wag’s mixing skills to bring us another brilliant Transmission for the Perth community. The sound was excellent and the lighting was decent, however the music itself did its job and bought joy to the people around. Some punters were so upset about Rise’s change for Saturdays that they were going around the venue with books asking for people to write their view on the change, obviously the majority of punters were against it as I also added my thoughts. Thanks to the promoters, Rise crew/staff/DJ’s and DJ Nervous for this outstanding night. I look forward to Transmission’s next CD launch!
