Well a few things were learnt on Friday night and in the aftermath that ensured.
1. German is a scary, scary language
2. You can’t hold a ‘dance off’ if there isn’t enough room to dance

But enough of that…

When you turn up to an event right upon opening time and find yourself confronted with 40 minute lines, you know something special is going on, but for once the line served a purpose, to get our ugly mugs on camera and hopefully to appear on the upcoming Bass Station dvd.

We made it inside in time to catch the end of Gazmatron’s set and if anything is going to set a pace for the night it’s this guy, he always looks so into his sets and this was no exception, behind the decks having a ball belting out some killer tunes, and upon Nick Compound’s entrance the Palace was really starting to fill up in eager anticipation of what was to come.

For those of us who saw Brooklyn Bounce’s back room set at Bass last year, we knew these guy especially DJ Bonebreaker know how to belt out a mind blowing set.  Despite the rather scary and downright odd German track at the start, many were left indeed with their minds being blown to a set which went through some classic trance anthems to a closing half hour of Brooklyn Bounce classics.

By this stage the main room was well and truly full to the brim even after the regular pass out exodus, but many a soul stayed to see what kind of set Jason Midro would put on for the crowd for his live recording, and an awesome set was witnessed by those who did stay indoors for Midro, any time he concentrates on the music and stays of the mic you know your in for something special.

The S.O.N mix-up, could well be classified as a highlight of all my times at Bass, with all the S.O.N crew getting a chance to play the ultimate vs set and throw down one track each ranging from fluffy trance, to happy hard, to hard as f*** acid, some highlights have to be mentioned are Karl Brown’s insane amount of energy thrown into just one track, and Hellraiser dropping that special orange record ‘The Outer Limits’ which never ceases to get a crowd well and truly pumped.   This is exactly what was required as a lead in to what some…actually all would rate as Melbourne’s queen of all things hard and bangin’ – Jewelz.  Jewelz played as per usual an amazing set with wicked track selection, top notch mixing, and great stage presence, before nailing Schranz Slippy to end the night and blow what was left of the roof off the Palace.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
