When I heard another Ultra was on its way I was slightly excited. But then to my joyful surprise a friend told me, “Nah, it’s not at Arq again, Ultra’s gone rave!” And to make things even better, it was a very short 5 minute cab ride from my house, and a 10 minute ride from the city.

With the last ultra being held at Arq, this warehouse rave style was an unforeseen change from the usual style of the previous Ultra, but it was well received by everyone who attended, and I can see it being the norm of Ultra events to come.

The venue was one of the best I’ve seen in quite some time, offering 1 large dance floor and 1 small dance floor, conveniently located in a warehouse in Mascot. And ample space for the 500+ punters who showed up. The only thing missing was an outdoor area, but all in all a top-notch party pad.

Personally I thought Ultra was close to doomed from the start as the previous week a fellow raver had passed away from meningococcal right after Happy Snax. This obviously was in the back of everyone’s minds when deciding to go, and when I arrived it looked like it was off to a shaky start. But in true raver style, everyone managed to pull up their socks, and bring out their smiles to help make a hell of a night!

The lighting by BLM was awesome as per usual, and the sound was superb! Making the performances by the DJs and MCs a pleasure to listen and dance to. Awesome sets by everyone, including, Weaver, Suae, Matrix, Josh van Aalst, illfx, Shadower, TomE, Scape, Haze, Sims, Fireblade, Duckie, Nex Level, Marishka, Jayde, Rossco, and the mood was lifted well by MCs Obi and Riddle. Great job guys, as per usual!

The event was also the official launch of DJ Weaver’s first release on the Executive Records label. There was signed giveaways of the record during his and DJ Haze’s sets.

A surprise to many was an arrival of a police car at about 5 in the morning, it is apparent that some stupid person(s) thought they would try their luck stealing some money from the promoters, from what I heard, although we all know what happens when gossip gets going. So all in all was a fantastic night and cant wait for the next one!

And finally apart for a few selfish and heartless people, a minute of silence was held for the loss of the previous week, so R.I.P Steve. My heart goes out to your family and friends, I didn’t know you well, but I know you will be missed by many.
