Sunday 15th of May saw Fresh FM and Heaven Nightclub celebrate the launch of the new Fresh radio transmitter. After arriving right on time at 11pm, the line up was up and around the corner, extending into the Heaven car park. The vibe in the line was full of excitement and hype. This was one party with a lot of build up to it, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

By midnight, the place was close to capacity and flashing blue with Fresh FM “Watts” everywhere. The vibe of the crowd had such an up-for it, excited feel, very different to the standard Heaven night.

I settled in with a few drinks, awaiting the acts I came to see. 2am saw the official “power up” of the new transmitter – complete with fireworks and all, MPK launched into his set with MC Xpress rhyming it out big time, starting off with some Pendulum – the place was electric, with drum n bass really making its home in Adelaide as a very popular genre, the crowd were well-up for it, with the dance floor packed, it was great to see the Drum n Bass in the main room, with solid tunes and vibe all the way through.

Next for me was Banshee, in “Eden”, playing to an intimate crowd, Banshee played a solid, cranking hard house set, full of anthems, full of energy the whole way through, Banshee is certainly a crowd pleaser and looked like she was having a ball!

Around 3am, Audio Beverage hit the main stage, as a big Audio Beverage fan I was pumped. With both vocalists there for the show, they played a “live-ish” set with keyboards and samples. Front and centre for their entire set – the crowd went ballistic for Humans, Eternal-E, and Clear Blue Sky – they really have proved themselves as Adelaide’s best Trance producers – well done guys! Had a ball!

Next up was Cabin Crew – playing a top set, I sat back and enjoyed from the booths, at this stage the crowd were still busting it out.

The highlight for me though – was Cheeky B vs Josh. The build was extreme, with Josh hyping it all up, especially after seeing her play at Black Cat on Friday, she looked like she was having a blast. Playing somewhat of a trance anthems set, with tracks like Skydive – Freefall, Adagio for Strings – Tiesto, For An Angel – Paul Van Dyke finishing up with Insomnia as an encore, it was one of the best sets I have ever seen, these girls ROCKED – being front/centre for the whole set made it unreal! You girls rocked and enjoyed it thoroughly! Great to see the trance classics still so popular in Adelaide.

Was a fantastic night, far exceeding the hype and my personal expectations. The place was still full at 6:30am, which is a credit to the organizers! Definitely one of the best parties for 2005!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
