Sold out gigs have an air about them, the people inside are giddy and grateful that they are not one of the line that is snaking round the block in the vain hope of scoring a place on the dance floor…on this occasion I must admit to smugly skipping past that line and gratefully having ink smeared across my forearm as I entered.

Karl Sav was warming up the decks as I entered with a softer almost loungey feel, the crowd was multiplying steadily as were the bpm and at the half way mark, toes were tapping. Hearing the JDS mix of baby I got your money and wild thing caused my head to snap up just in time to catch Mr Sav shakin what his mama gave him and a few more shufflers following his lead. Finishing up with Dopamines Hold you to rousing applause and a packed dance floor the next hands on the wheels were to be Wish’s and opening with Alter Ego – Rocker (stanton’s remix) proved a hit and Friendlys bump and grind saw even more feet cram the floor.

A sold out Ambar is not my favourite place to be and that’s no secret but I must make mention of the fact the number of people in the place was not over the top and I applaud the decision to open out the back area as a chill out space.

The Breakfastaz boys had the crowd in their palms before a track has even been laid down, the air was thick with anticipation and the slamming chords that make up Spit it out did not disappoint.  Upping the ante with Green Light (with Midnight acapella layered over the top) seemingly feeding off the crowds frenzied energy and edging in a few killa buildups before sliding on the breakdowns.  Throwing down the freestylers collaboration with local boys pendulum Fasten your seatbelt induced rapturous cheers from the dancing mass of sweaty breakheads as did Chris Carters Ark Angel.

There was much bouncing in the booth as the boys fired up along and took everyone along for the ride closing out as hard and they came in other standout tracks were he Chemical Brothers – Galvanize (Stantons mix) Deekline and the Wizards mix of Boomblast.

JimmyB stepped into some mighty big shoes with aplomb and dropped the level to match the worn out legs of the amped crowd eking out their remaining juice before the lights came up at 4am.

It was the end of a very very long weekend but the faithful were out in force and were not disappointed, competing with a MOS event and by all accounts winning hands down, thanks for the breaks boys.
