After only a mere month, the TranceTribe Event crew have staged their second party for the Sydney trance scene. Again using the Blue Room for the more melodic and uplifting sounds and the Red Room for techno and the harder edge of trance, the second TranceTribe event came off an even greater success than the first. Both rooms were packed full pretty much right from the word go, and Suzie Q’s was kicking strong even at 6:30am, half an hour after the event was meant to end!

Kicking off the night, we had one of the event’s crew, Luke Sykes, warming up the Blue Room. Dishing out his own brand of trance, Luke played a very smooth and well flowing progressive set, with a few melodic tracks and even a little tribal thrown in for good measure and variety. Personal favourites out of Luke’s set for me were “Deepsky – Talk Like A Stranger” and “Jase From Outta Space – Do What U Want”, as well as Luke’s own mix of “Moonman – Galaxia”. Whilst Luke was getting the party started in the Blue Room, Marshall was in the Red, cranking out some slower styled techno. The Red Room was filling up nicely to his tunes, and he had a good following on the dance floor already. Returning to the Blue Room towards the mark of midnight I found the place filling up nicely, with plenty of clubbers already grooving to Luke’s smooth sounds.

Next up in the Blue was clubbing favourite Stama. Having a prime time slot, Stama played amazingly with the anticpated uplifting and melodic sounds that people have been hanging out for. Hearing a remix of “Adagio For Strings” was superb, as was “Oceanlab – Clear Blue Water”. By this stage, the Blue Room was packed full of happy punters, and you could tell that Stama was loving being able to play to a prime time crowd. Ducking into the Red Room I caught some of Kate’s set. She was dishing out some solid techno and everyone in there was soaking it up. I think she’s become a new favourite amongst all that checked her out. Again, returning to the Blue Room, the place was jumping even more than before. Stama kept the crowd dancing and in high spirits. Another highlight was hearing “Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor – Air For Life”.

Before I knew it, 2am had come around, and Rob Noble was next up on the decks for the Blue Room. Opening with “Energy 52 – Cafe Del Mar”, we all knew we were in for a treat. Rob’s brand of trance held the attention of everyone present. He played numerous tracks from the TranceTribe Recordings label including ”[p.e.g] – Whatever”, “Invertika – Reverse” and the first TranceTribe Recordings vinyl release “Aramanja – Memories”. The producers of these tracks were also present, and needless to say, they went nutso when their own tracks got dropped. Another favourite of the night was Rob dropping “System F – Out Of The Blue”, with nothing but a positive response from the crowd. I sneaked in and out of the Red Room to catch a little of Bexta for a total of about 15 minutes, but I was too addicted to the Blue Room to leave it for long.

4am, and it was time for the last sets of the night. Jumping Jack was the one to close up the Blue Room and he didn’t fail to impress. In the Red was Shaman continuing the the hard factor. Again, I missed most of Shaman’s set due to enjoying the Blue Room so much, but the times I did pop in it seemed that all present were enjoying his music. As for Jumping Jack, he was playing a killer set. Consistent music and track selection kept the crowd on the dance floor, even though it was getting towards the end of the night. He played a good mix of some of the more recent trance productions, such as “E-Craig – Call It A Day”, and also doing a repeat of “Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor – Air For Life”. However, my personal favourite, and probably highlight of the night, was hearing “Armin Van Buuren – Shivers”. It was amazing to hear it in a club, and I think everyone in the Blue Room would agree. As 6am rolled around everyone thought we were due to be kicked out, but Jumping Jack kept on playing, feeding off the crowd’s hunger for more trance. Around 6:30, he finally finished up, but not without a final encore of “GTR – Mistral”, which the crowd lapped up. A perfect end to a killer night.

The production for the night was quite good, with the Blue and Red rooms decorated appropriately. The Blue Room undertook a slight change with yellow lasers rather than blue for something different, but that hardly detracted from the feel of the room. The chillout room was also quite successful with space to chat, comfy couches, and smooth tunes. The second TranceTribe Event was as much of a success as the first, if not moreso. The crowd seemed to be even bigger than last time, not to mention the friendliness and how up for it everyone was. The music was simply superb across both rooms, although I personally found myself inexplicably drawn to the Blue Room this time round. The TranceTribe Events Crew have certainly set a new standard for trance nights in Sydney. With the new fusion of techno and trance, it seems the TranceTribe Event will keep punters coming in for a long time to come, and with them leaving all smiles from a top night out.
