First of all let me start off by saying I wasn’t a big Moby fan before I saw him live. And as quoted by the man himself, “The Weedy Inbred Accountant”, he has converted me to a life long fan. I turned up to St Kilda’s Famous Palace venue about 9.45 pm and caught the ass end of True Live’s pumping set.  This six piece HipHop/Funk Jazz Band had the joint absolutletly rockin, True Live features a Cello, Violin, Keyboards, Double bass, Drums and Vocals and has been recently named the Best Live act in Victoria.
They left big shoes for Moby to fill and after about 15 mins Moby came on stage to huge cheers and applause, and straight  into the haunting number ” Find My Baby” from then on I was captivated. This five piece band is a very tight unit and this was reflected in just how awesome these songs sound live.

Moby pulled out all the big guns playing crowd favs Lift Me Up, We Are All Made Of Stars, Honey, Porcelain, Why Does My Heart, Bodyrock ( Best track of the night ), In This World and Go. Moby interacted with the crowd quite often introducing the members of the band and also commenting on political issues, one comment being that the first time he played Melbourne was in 1994 and he had done a gig in Sydney at 1am and then in Melbourne at 8am and he remembers that it still smells the same in Melbourne after 10 years.

Moby also played a cover of RadioHead’s “Freak”. The encore was a cover of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and the Rave Anthem Feeling So Real. This live gig will stick in my mind forever and I cant thank the girls and guys at ITM enough for the chance to go. Hopefully it’s not another 2 years before Moby comes back. One of the best live acts in the world if you ever have the chance… check out MOBY!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
