The month just doesn’t seem to come around quick enough when you’re talking about the Grooveinc@Breed parties. Held every month at the CQ Lounge in the heart of Bondi Junction, these parties have proven time and time again to be a successful night, giving punters the cream of up and coming DJ talent alongside the regular club residents who work hard to assure the punters come back for more every month. With quite a strong following, Grooveinc@Breed has continued for well over a year now and gained the respect it deserves now being a well known and popular monthly club night.

This month’s installment well exceeded my expectations. It was held on Saturday 6th August and was the return of the Heaven & Hell theme, which I attended last year and had a great time at, so was expecting another and I was excited to see just what was planned this time around. With an appearance from non other than Australia’s most dirtiest and darkest bangin DJ, Hellraiser, he was to go back 2 back on 4 decks with Grooveinc resident and self-confessed hardstyle slut DJ Spank – I had a fair idea that this would be another rocking night!

Upon arrival and after being shown through the door by the grim reaper, I noticed a change in format for the night. The front room was given the title of Hell and it looked amazing, this time the stage area was being used with 2×2 decks being mounted upon scaffolding giving each of the two DJs their own mixing space. This was working really well for Anarchy Angel and resident DJ Shash who were up first for the night, as well as Gavin Dee and Cyx who were down from Velocity on the central coast, playing out the second round. I finally took the chance to check out Heaven in the back room which was decorated nicely with angel wings and bright colored lights and had some heavenly tunes being spun by Bazza, who was displaying some flawless mixing for his first set out.

Back in the depths of Hell the sound system was crisp and clear and at its full potential for the club. The crowd were going nuts to the devilish sounds of resident DJs Whisper and G_Banga, who were taking to the 4 decks with ease, mashing up some of the best and hardest anthems from the past few years – like Derb’s self titled, Derb, and the new Sensation Black Anthem of 2005, Shock your Senses. These guys played for an hour and a half and left the crowd well up for more, though luckily next up was the feature round of special guest DJ Hellraiser b2b with DJ Spank. This set was bangin just as described or as many this night would say, just as prescribed.

Both of these amazing DJs played many bangin techno tracks that really worked well together to give the sound of Hell. Spank added in some hardstyle along with Hellraiser dropping some of his own productions, giving people a dose of his 303 acid sound. This party was at its peak and sent me and many others onto the dance floor. None looked like they were ready to sit back down until the end of this set at the least! After their set had come to a stop I wandered back into Heaven to check out DJ Pablo. He was playing some really nice epic sounding trance which gave me a good chance to grab a drink and chat with a few friends whilst the surrounding sounds were pleasant and less amplified.

The night was getting close to the end now, and banging it out on the 4 decks of Hell was Tha Reaper back to back with Tayles. They kept the energy going with some hardstyle anthems, before making way for the final round of the night – DJs Slim & Miki. This was quite the show, hearing samples and accapellas layered throughout their set – I have to say well done to these guys, you kept me on my feet till close! Congratulations to Erin and Jeff (Spank) from Grooveinc and Joel from Breed for putting on another awesome night. As for Heaven & Hell, I can’t wait for the 3rd party. I’m sure you will see me back again next month though to support this tidy night out.
