Powerhouse Productions (the creators of such parties as Godspeed and Utopia) bought us their latest creation, Prophecy.
It seems like forever since the Superdome has been used for a rave, almost a year has passed and it was great to get back there. The break was fantastic as the Superdome began to be, in my opinion, overused. The return was exciting and felt like coming home, cheesy I know but the Superdome is one of the best venues in the state and a real treasure to the hard dance community.
DJ Matrix kicked off the night in awesome style as the thousands of ecstatic ravers filed into the Superdome. As 11 o’clock ticked over it was time for a dose of Dutch gabber from DJ Crystal. Unfortunately it took 40 minutes to find the 2nd room which was not opened until 11:30 only leaving Crystal with a 30 minute set but he more than made up for it with his mix of party gabber which had the room filling in no time.
A quick look in the main room and I was greeted with a powerful full colour laser show as Weaver took to the main stage with MC Storm from the UK. Storm was by far the best MC I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. As with all the UK MCs he had a great presence on stage and really worked well with all the DJs. He made the party atmosphere so much more explosive, I really hope we can see more of him in the near future.
The party vibe continued to the chill out with market stalls and a Sizzler ride with everyone wanting a go. The free rides at these big events really add that little something to the party. Midian was in the third room mixing some classic happy hard, I was literally trying to leave to catch a bit of Alphazone but as I would walk off at the end of one track he would through on another classic like, Children Of The Night, that would bring me back.
I finally got away to catch Team Rocket in the second arena, once again the trio amped up the vibe and took us to hardcore heaven. A slightly different mix than normal playing a lot of nu-skool happy but still throwing in a few classics. I really love the way they get the crowd into their mixes, they don’t just stand there and mix records, they play on the crowd, have us singing along with them and their antics on stage are hilarious.
At 5am I raced into the second arena to catch Outblast and Catscan take out the evening. It’s a pity Catscan and Outblast could not have played in the main arena, to my understanding they were playing another gig which is why Styles, Breeze, Catscan and Outblast could not perform earlier, which is fine, I totally understand. But it would have been even better if all the international guests could have performed in the main arena with the amazing sound system and production. I am sure most of the ravers there would not have minded finishing at 7 or 8am, even if the party started later.
Outblast and Catscan were fabulous, my personal favourite set of the night, I hope the boys are back to take on the main room of a party soon, where I really think they would shine. Sadly I missed Breeze, Styles and Dougal as I got far too carried away with the gabber pouring out of the second room.
Prophecy was a good night with a great vibe and wonderful music, it’s great to see so many different genres of hard dance in the one night, cannot wait to see what Powerhouse have up their sleeves for New Years Eve.
