Friday is always a difficult night for me party-wise. After a 9 hour day at the office I always find it difficult to keep my attention on going out partying, and to be honest, I just can’t stay awake… Which is just one of the reasons the Friday just gone was so awesome. I left the office and was still excited by the fact that I was going to watch Elite Force play! Not only this, he was playing in the Cave of the Laundry – my favourite venue at the moment. Backed up by the stellar Sound Advice crew and a couple of other blow-ins including the Impossibles, I was almost guaranteed a top night out.

Also on display in the Laundry was the Kiwi Tim Phin to throw down some stomping house music. Phin was being supported by our very own Synik on warm-up and Tom Da Silva on cool-down. As it panned out, I was unable to spend too much time in the Laundry, so I’ll apologise straight up for missing most of the shenanigans in that room.

Arriving at about 12, my posse and I headed straight out the back and into the Cave where Moxx and Steve Higgins (the Sound Advice lads) were doing their thing in style. Throwing down a mix-up of a deeper edged breaks and tech-funk. The atmosphere was electric already with track after track making the place go crazy. The boys, who are not only nice dudes, are also technically impressive DJs, and they selected a set for the night that was the perfect warm-up for Elite. Slowly building. And building. And building. Until the pressure in the Cave was at breaking point.

Boom! And in comes Mr. Force himself. A true performer behind the decks, Elite Force had us party-people going absolutely nuts for his entire set. Just check out the Sydney forum or the breaks forum and you’ll see just how excited Sydney was to have Elite playing. Taking that tech-edged breakbeat sound to it’s extreme, I wasn’t able to stop moving for two straight hours as he flawlessly mixed tune after tune, continuing to build us up and bring us down with massive build-ups and break-downs. Mashing up a number of his own tunes and remixes with new edits of old tracks and some wicked new material, Elite put a smile on the chin strokers and dancers faces alike. In one of the most electric sets I’ve experienced in a while, Mr. Force, put on a separate show behind the decks, dancing and smiling the whole way through, clearly enjoying himself.

Following up an international is always a tough ask but the Impossibles kept the place rocking until the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately my Friday tiredness had well and truly kicked in, and I headed home just after Elite Force had finished up, but by all accounts the night didn’t stop when I walked out. Keep you eye on this spot for more Laundry reviews coming soon, I’m not gonna be able to stay away from the place with acts such as the Phil K, Luck Chable, Ils, Rowan Blades, Nu Breed and more in the next couple of months!

Congrats also to the Sound Advice Lads – wicked night all round!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
