Firstly I would like to say that this was by far one of the most memorable nights I
have had in a while. The minute that I had the opportunity to review this night I had
made sure to grab it and so I did. Put simply, to go to a local show from the beginning to
end, and walk out of there being fully satisfied with the range of music played does not
happen often. Shows like Robot @ Geisha were one of them. Robot featured a range of
local DJs that include Sean Chee, Law, Chad D, Kriece (now internationally recognised),
Terry Waites and the much anticipated for, Mrw.

The immediate moment I walked into Geisha there was a new vibe in comparison
with every other time I have been there. I think it was more the fact that many of the
crowd that were there had wanted to listen to the new range of music that the night had
to offer. Sean Chee was playing first, in addition to his massive side-burns and afro,
Sean had put on a nice selection of the more techy side of house and making sure
everyone is enjoying for whats to come next. As the time is ticking to about 11.40, the
crowd is flowing in through the doors.

By about 12, I started to hear a more of an electro sound. Law was on the decks and
the more that new electro sound and heavy bass lines were played the more the dance
floor started filling up. At this part of the night, there was a great vibe in the club while
Law had smacked on his heavy electro side of house bringing the dance floor into a full
he had managed to also take it down a notch to give the crowd a breath while Chad D
took over and played his new array of tech-house to keep the night flowing and up to
date on a great night to come.

Towards the middle of the night at about 1.30am, Kriece had stepped up onto the
decks. Kriece is one of those local DJs/Producers that have been very successful with his
DJ work and production work locally and internationally (especially in Japan). So for the
next 2 hours Kriece delivered a set that I had very much enjoyed and so did the crowd.
Playing a fresh selection of a very different sound of house, it was a superb build up to
the night. The one thing that I always enjoy when watching Kriece is his unique track
selection. As time started to tick towards the 3am mark, Kriece started getting heavier
with his sound and bass lines as well as playing his remix of ’ Window Licker ’ by Aphex
Twin. His set was definately one of the biggest highlights of many peoples night in
addition to mine by the look of the dance floor and the crowds vibe.

At about 4am Terry Waites had kept the crowd on that dance floor to stay for more.
His selection of house ranging from tech-house to some more vocal tracks was perfect to
what we needed to keep on flowing for the night to get ready for the set that Mrw had
ready to unleash. Finally, when Mrw had come on, the crowd could here the distinct
sounds and the vibe of the club had all of a sudden changed to make them stay and wait
for what is to come. It’s been a long time since I last saw a DJ that had played very old
progressive and tech house and Mrw did just that. I was on the dance floor with many
others at one point, and hearing an array of tribal sounds as well as that old acid bass
line just made me and the crowd want more and more. Furthermore, there was a lush
selection of strings building the crowd up and taking them into a place they have not
been for a long time. The set that I and many others had heard from Mew was so very
unique and ended the night off perfectly.
