After a hyped build up to the night and certain travel confusion, Moving Fusion said they would come by train from Adelaide after the chaos caused by Ansett, things kicked off style with the back to back sounds of Mystique and Rufkut stepping up to the decks early on. Stadium was filling up well as punters entered with the hard rolling sounds coaxing a few steppers on to the dancefloor. MFI had decked out the club nicely with good a sized soundsystem and the raised dancefloor eliminating the pit in the centre of the club. The intial combination warmed up the eager crowd easily and just after 11:00, Rufkut handed over to Greg Packer.

Packer bridged the changeover nicely, easing in some more funky sounds. His set blended harder sounds with more progressive funky tracks with ease, showing quality tune selection and numbers on the dancefloor. J Majik’s ‘Spaced Invaders’ seemed to act like a magnet to the dancefloor as the spiralling build up got the floor really rockin’. With the lower level packed and the dancefloor almost full Greg Packer controlled the crowd well, lashing out some crowd favourites. Konflict, Stakka & Skynet’s ‘Biosfear’ rinsed out proper and all too soon ending up his set with DJ Zinc’s huge ‘Casino Royale’

Muller stepped up around midnite and continued in smooth style with a set tending towards the harder sounds to the appreciation of the dancefloor, which was almost at sardine like proportions. MC X-cessive stepped in on the mic and showed that the crowd were ready for a huge night ahead.

Dan Lucas took control close 1:00 and quickly proved why he put himself on as warm up for the headliners. On the mic, MC Interjecta put in possibly his last performance after coming out of retirement, especially for Dan Lucas. Interjecta teamed up with J Rippa to have the crowd rockin’ as Dan Lucas built it up with a remix of J Majik’s ‘Love is not a game’. ‘Biosfear’ started to ease into the mix but with such a good vibe it couldn’t escape being rewound a 2nd time around. After a tearin’ set, Dan Lucas finished appropriately with John B’s ‘Up All Night’ (who also is also playing a set for us this Friday).

Around 2:00 AM the crowd was peakin’ for the start of Moving Fusion and without delay ‘Truly One’ rmx got rewound with a huge display of appreciation for the UK vistors. MC Rufkut got on the mic for some vocal stylings though he was somewhat drowned out by the almost deafening sounds of the Moving Fusion. The boys showed how entertaining a 2 DJ combination can be, with both Jeff and Spar seemingly controlling the vibe at the same time. They obviously work well together as EQ tweakin and numerous rewinds were done over the shoulder of whoever was making the selections. Moving Fusion lashed out the RAM raiders in the form of Shimon & Andy C’s Mindkiller, and the ‘Bodyrock’ with a seamless blend into a dub remix of ‘Bodyrock’. Through Ed Rush and Optical, Reprazent and more Ram dubs the MFI massive were loving it. Origin Unknown ‘Equinox’, Bad Company Remix of Q Project’s ‘Champion Sound’, Shimon’s ‘Hush Hush’, Ram Trilogy’s ‘Titan’ & Bad Company’s ‘the Nine’ all rinsed out and, at this stage, the night had reached the high expectations put on it. The rewind on their last song and the 1 minute of noise from the crowd showed that, even at 4:30, they hadn’t had enough and most couldn’t believe the set was over.

Finishing duties were left to the able skills of Frantik and Elle Rollo, who dropped it down a touch while lashing out the rollers for the still packed dancefloor. Dillinja, DJ Zinc and J Majik played out as the back to back set kept up the pace. With the night almost over the sound of Renegade’s ‘Terrorist’ rolled in just to get everyone up again and, with a rewind, many tired bodies sprung to life again. And a Big up to MFI and all the Perth Massive.

Well, Perth proved its gotta be a contender for the DrumnBass capital of down under. Bring on Moving Fusion (again) on Tuesday; John B this Friday (the 28th of September) and Shimon & Matrix this Sunday (the 30th of September).
