Trance in Perth is back. And it’s back in a very big way. Dreamsounds in conjunction with The DJ Factory hosted the first installment of Trance Sessions at the Church Nightclub on Thursday night and the results were impressive to say the least. The ethos of the night is concentrated entirely on trance and each session will boast a quality selection of local trance DJ’s. It was all about real Trance music; not the cheesy or commercial club variations and this dedication to the real stuff bought out the real trance lovers in droves; the club attracted a massive attendance and stayed that way right until the last track was dropped.

Getting proceedings underway was up and coming DJ Tae who used the set he had been allocated to focus on the slightly more progressive sounds of Trance. He gradually worked towards a build and then left it off on a more driving and fairly uplifting tip, well suited for that time of night and perfect for the sets to follow. His mixes were notably smooth and it appeared as though he was just as confident as any other DJ behind the decks. Conor Arkins then took over, and impressively, he also seemed to have a similar strain of confidence in his ability. His mixes were smooth and he worked the room with a driving and slightly harder trance vibe; everyone present clearly loved it. Doors had only opened an hour or so prior, but you would be forgiven for mistakenly thinking it was close to peak time with the dance floor already rocking, the front bar full and people dancing where they were or chatting within the many seats around the club.

Birthday boy DeeJay V took to the decks next and delivered what can only be described as the perfect set for the crew present. He was on the money big time and he had the club hanging off his every mix and track. Seamless mixes and his ability to work an energetic and driving vibe within an uplifting style were in full effect and the result was a stormer of a set. What was also pretty impressive was the fact that even though it was his birthday, he managed to bust out a smooth set. Normally, birthdays and DJ’s equals messy drunken sets but this was certainly not so in his case.

Working the trance tip to an excellent crescendo, it was then time for Church resident DJ’s John Paul and Kenny L to take it back to back until close. With the dance floor cranking, they kept their tunes on the techy trance tip which suited the time of night perfectly. Their ability to work so well together was on full display and the result was a top notch set; equal parts rocking and quality. This made for the perfect way to end the night. Perth hasn’t seen trance of this nature in quite some time. The first installment of Trance Sessions proved to be a massive success and if you love trance and you love it proper; then you best be checking out the next one which touches down at The Church on Friday 28th April.

Trance in Perth is back in a big way. It’s official!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
