Ministry of Sound Maximum Bass CDs are generally compilations put together to showcase current tunes that advertise the latest low frequency recordings from different genres; the latest edition masterfully mixed by UK resonant…sorry ‘Resident’, Klaus “Heavyweight” Hill.

I have been listening to the album for the last few weeks and it is a great collection of the latest Hip Hop, Breaks and House that, if you have a mad subwoofa in your car, will give you a sensual massage while the aggressive audio releases your serotonin.

This event was to be held in the ‘Ministry Friendly’ confines of Academy, where I suspected there would be less education and more adulation for the biggest tunes of the moment. In true MOS style people come to these parties to get loose, hear tunes that they know and throw their hands in the air and scream ‘yeeeeeaaaaaahhh MYLO!’ Even when it’s not.

I arrived at the club at around 10pm to find a small crowd scattered around the Candy bar and below in the main ‘theatre of sound’. Chris Fraser was dishing out the usual solid mix of crowd pleasers, surrounded by panties and red bull cans like any normal Friday night.

The dancefloor, big enough to host the world cup, was slowly filling as the sound went higher and the vodka levels got lower. Klaus Hill appeared behind the decks and the night was about to give birth to some bass as if the turntables were playing through Barry Whites Voice box.

Klaus really got the crowd going with some massive records like Buy Now – For Sale, Aquasky and Meat Katie – Overneath and Pendulum feat. Freestylers – Fasten Your Seatbelt which always tears any system a new proverbial RCA-Hole.

It was an extremely impressive performance, changing styles as faultlessly as Grant Denyer , the appreciative crowd swelling to ‘maximum’ for the end of the blinding set.

The night was in full flight as King Klaus made way for Steve Lind, this was the first time I have seen this boy close and it was unbelievable! Bootleg Lind smashed out some of the nastiest mashup action I have seen in recent times, with booties of Daft Punk – Around the World and Thomas Andersson – Washing Up ripping the floor into a frenzy.

Ministry parties are always guaranteed to attract two things, gorgeous women and people that are there to have a good time. It was a very fun night that never fell below the level of (to quote the Fonz) “Eyyyyyyyy”

Until next time…
