The success of the second party is really the stick by which to measure a new club
night. Friends don’t feel the same obligation to turn up and it’s no longer the new night on
the scene. Luckily for the Foreshadows crew, the triumph that was One AM round one
meant word was out and on Friday night the Platinum Bar at Metros was filling up well
before the one am start time.
New girl on the scene Mono Lisa stepped up and started the night out, holding her
composure well while a few kinks with the sound system were ironed out. The beauty of
a party kicking off at one am is the crowd is already amped up, most people having been
out for drinks earlier. Mono Lisa was able to shy away from a traditional warm up set and
got the bodies on the dance floor with a mix of new tunes and a few classics. Beatboxing
by Dlux was amazing and a few times I had to look over, so sure it was the DJ scratching
and not him.
Karlsav took over and always eager to showcase what he has been working on in
the studio played his as yet unsigned tune, Tumble Down, to an appreciative crowd. He
stepped up the pace with some bassline breaks – this seemed to scare off a few punters
from the dance floor (although it was the highlight of the night for this reviewer). A
familiar remix of Prodigy’s Spitfire got the dance floor heaving again and that’s how it
stayed, the crowd needing to keep warm on the dance floor as the draught from the
balcony made the inside of the bar quite cold! Micah provided some quality tuneage,
funking things up a bit and accompanied by the gorgeous Carmen Jones and her equally
gorgeous voice.
Finally four thirty am came around and the ones the crowd had been waiting for,
Mortal
Realistiks (Fine China and MC Mortal Flow) stepped up to the mic and the wheels of steel.
Quickly the dance floor flooded and the crowd cheered out Micah and Carmen and
welcomed the boys with chorus of “woooos”. Straight in to a darker party style and just
what the crowd was after, you could see lots of approving nodding and grinning – even
from the wallflowers! These guys kept it going, cutting and scratching and although the
crowd thinned a bit, there was still a solid presence on the dance floor til very early
hours.
The Foreshadows crew hit the nail on the head with One AM for the second time running,
establishing themselves a little further in the scene with quality music, friendly faces and
cheap drinks – don’t miss the next one!
