Well, where to start? My high expectations were exceeded the other night when I managed to drag myself out of the house and crawl towards the newly refurbished ‘Havana Nightclub’ located on Oxford St (although I might just add that crawling up Oxford St is not recommended).

Not having been to an event since ‘Livewire’, my ears had formed some kind of protective layer from the damage, which was again instantly ruptured by the enormous sound system on Friday. I blame Crispin for this horrendous act, yet was pleased with the lovely music he was playing so I guess it all evens out, no harm done.

Beer. With that problem now sorted, I venture back to the dance floor and… damnit, finished it already! Beer. Ok, back on the dance floor and I was now enjoying Crispin’s build up to Mr. Porter’s marathon set. Whilst doing this I notice how much the venue has improved, with a much larger floor area for the crowd, clearer sound and three bars in the space of twenty metres! It was also good to see they had finally done away with that very silly wall and opened the place up to a very comfortable seating area for those wanting to have a little nap.

As soon as I snapped out of my inner monologue, Steve Porter had appeared up the front and was gearing up to play what was a most enjoyable set, although in my opinion it really took off about half way, and I just couldn’t stop myself from jumping up and down, or however you can describe my bad dancing. Some of the most memorable tracks I can still remember from his set were Funky Town and Pop Music, what a champ! “Beep de Boop, Pop Music!”

Just when I thought I could give my legs a rest.. BAM! Matt Rowan took control of the room and delivered yet another smashingly good set, and ended the night with a great uplifting vibe. At one point I thought he wasn’t going to play ‘Tomorrow’, his recent track with fellow producer Jaytech, but of course he played it towards the end and everyone went berserk.

Looking forward to spending another night with the Sweetchilli team, and all the people who keep coming back for more!
