Walking past the front of Bohem lounge, my ears were tuned into the sound of Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Tracking Treasure Down’ being play out by The Digital Pimp and Marishka, who with their opening uplifting set in Bohem got the crowd ready for a night of great tracks and a great all round line up of trance and hard dance DJs to help Sydney launch Ministry of Sound’s latest Hard NRG CD.

Entering Gas Nightclub, Whisper started hyping up the crowd on Gas’s sound system with some great tech trance, including Marco V’s ‘False Light’ which sensualised the mood of the crowd, enticing them to place their hands in the air and move their body along to the beat. As Whisper continued to warm up the decks, the crowd appreciated the wealth of talent that Whisper possessed, entertaining the crowd with every track.

Whisper set a challenge to Archie to follow on in grand style, he accepted gratefully. A good progression of tracks was followed through with the energy of Archie behind the decks, exerting his passion for hard trance to the crowd in front of him. Along the way he played classics such as ‘Energiser’, Marcel Woods’s ‘Advanced’ and he also unleashed his trademark scratching which caused blissful havoc, complimenting the track ‘Floorkilla’ during the shufflin.com dance routine.

Upstairs in Bohem the music Tokai and Nykon were creating made it a shuffler’s paradise, playing hard hitting favourites like Cosmic Gate’s ‘Firewire’ and Ferry Corsten’s ‘Rock Your Body’. They were followed by Gbanga and Psyx’s hard banging “bass shaking” style. Both rooms blended and utilised the full line up of DJs to showcase the multitude of hard dance genres and the talent and strength of hard dance DJs in Sydney.

By now the supporting DJs had laid the foundation for John Ferris to bring some hard hitting hardstyle from the latest MoS Hard NRG compilation to the hallow decks of Gas. In true Blutonium style, Ferris was hard and unforgiving on Gas’s sound system. As the chunky bass and killer build-ups dispersed around the room, it launched the crowd into a frenzy of real stomping and jumping. Showcasing the natural trend in hard dance for harder and faster sounds, Ferris proceeded to play tracks like ‘Acid is my Sound’, ‘Orbiter’ and ‘Amen’. Launching his European inspired touch through his creative mixing with the EQs and scratching, he released energy behind the decks.

The shufflers again showed their talent on stage following Ferris, beefore I proceeded to check out the rising talent again up in Bohem. Skittlez, Tompy, and Ian Hard played out to a reasonable crowd. They mashed up some hard dance favourites to delight the punters.

Nik Fish followed on from where John Ferris had left off downstairs, with plenty of menacing hardstyle from the likes of European producers like Zany and The Prophet. Playing out tracks including ‘Emergency Call’ and ‘Science and Religion’, he highlighted the dark and nasty element to hardstyle, while also showing the diversity of his record collection and talent as one of Australia’s favourite DJs. He played the hard trance anthem ‘Painted Black’ and Pendulum’s ‘Slam’ to finish the set off.

Chia came on to provide a dosage of hard house to end another night of hard dance at Gas. It was a successful launch of the latest Ministry of Sound Hard NRG compilation, here’s to the next one!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
