For some people it may have been hard going out late after a big day of Grand Final madness. A bunch of mates over, a barbie, a few beers, an exciting match, it would have been very easy to relax at home and keep on drinkin’. Fortunately, I was stuck at work all day which meant I was roaring to go out and boogy afterwards. The lovely ladies from Tickled Pink had staged a coup at regular saturday night ‘Unknown’ at Eleven-A in the city and having experience with both meant I knew it should be an alright time.

I managed to drag along a mate with me, but I didn’t manage to shut him up, seeing as he is from Western Australia and all. In between excited outbursts we managed to turn up at the venue, walked inside and were confronted by possibly the best looking door staff ever. After composing ourselves we ventured to the bar, which was fairly packed. Eleven-A is not the largest of venues and with upstairs closed off for a private function it meant things were more than a little cosy. However it wasn’t uncomfortable and lots of people at an event is always better than not many so it was ok.

With drinks in hand we walked on to the dance floor to show off our moves. My mate is more into the style of Bodyjar, as opposed to Bob Sinclaire but I more than made up for it, tearing up the floor in a flash. The tunes were provided by Miss Chris and she was doing a good job, people were dancing and enjoying the smooth house. Next up was Sass, who kicked things up a notch. I was suprised at the tracks she was playing as they seemed mostly just anthems and big tunes from the last few years. As she explained to me afterwards they weren’t her records and she didn’t know what the hell she was doing or what songs were good so she was improvising as best she could! People were dancing and singing along and I heard some favourites of mine so no complaints! Danni continued the fun vibes but unfortunately we had to leave soon after, my mate was feeling lonely in his West Coast Eagles shirt so we left in search of the atmosphere one only finds at places like Young & Jacksons. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) it was closed so we did what all good slightly intoxicated people do after a night out on the town: grab some greasy junk and sit down somewhere in Swanston street to eat it.

Some good tunes and some good people (gotta love random drunk strangers chatting to you on the dance floor..FIRE UP BOYS!!) and we were satisfied when our night came to an end. And you know it was a good one when your punk rock mate goes “Yeah not bad for somethin different”.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
