Whilst most people would take the shenanigans from the long weekend as a sign to take a break this week, Candy’s Apartment at Kings Cross was still pumping on Saturday with super stylin’ grooves and some shady characters thrown into the mix. Candy’s (for those of you that haven’t been) is not your run of the mill, girls dancing around their handbag on a bridal shower, type of club. It is a full on dirty, sexy, underground, bass pumping club. And it’s best asset? The music.

The lights were on, the gear was setup, the bar was ready and the promoter Adam Coverdale was chilled out ready for the public in what could only be described as being in a tranquil state. Why was Adam in such a laid back mood, considering most promoters would be running around crazy right before a clubs opening time? Because this week at Candy’s Apartment everything was Lookin’ Good! The event, held the first Saturday of every month, always draws a big crowd and this week was no exception.

The major drawcard this week (besides resident Mark Dynamix) was Ultraphonic, who were launching their new single ‘Keep it Right There’, released on Hussle. The track is a pure disco house anthem. Expect it to do big things. From is raw start, to its uncompromising catchy riff, this track will have you singing in the streets. Their performance on Saturday was no exception, with a crowd reaction to make any promoter jealous; Ultraphonic had punters tearing up the dance floor all through their set.

Other Dj’s of the night included Tom Da Silva, Mark Dynamix, Adam Coverdale and Scott Pullen, all who played awesome sets. On a side note, which well established DJ was heard doing the ‘horse gallop’ early on in his set? Only those that were there will know! In the Bulletproof Room out back we heard from Sam Serene, Jay Smalls and resident Ben Kelly, all who struggled to keep a decent sized crowd, but only due to the lineup in the main room. All their sets were fantastic.

All in all, it was a night well enjoyed by punters with a great, friendly crowd, quick access to the bar and a wicked awesome venue. I still wouldn’t swap a night at Candy’s for any other night out. See you all next time!
