Midnight Juggernauts take to the stage with aplomb. Their live experience is accomplished and diverse; set to take Europe by storm. “Shadows” is uplifting, digestible stuff with a chorus easy enough to master on first listen and sing along convincingly. Vocal chords are further exercised as the punters howl along to “Raised By Wolves.” The Middies have pounced on the jugular.
Up-for-it fashionistas abound at this soiree though most of the fellas need to learn belts should be fastened above the buttocks. Elation prevails as if these cats are sampling disco biscuits for the first time. I witness one lad removing his shoe for a lady-friend to inspect! Not sure what to make of that one. Reinvented 80s fashion and an abundance of pashing couples bring to mind Blue Light Discos.
Enter MSTRKRFT.The Canadian duo utilise MP3s with the aid of Final Scratch or Scratch Live. The result is as tight as a fish’s arse, mixed spectacularly sans headphones. At one point a lighter is brought out to inspect the equipment – old school ingenuity.
“If you don’t dance to this… you’re never gonna dance in your fucking life!” Seizing the moment, enthusiasts storm the stage. If one half of this outfit wasn’t a brooding giant, the crowd wouldn’t know which way to face.
Jesse F Keeler and Al P have been making music together since around 1997 though MSTRKRFT is a fledgling project. Their remix of Wolfmother’s “Woman” inhabits the nations’ finest record boxes. Who hasn’t trashed their hair gyrating to this track?
