Break Inn is on fire in 2006, and they certainly don’t seem to be slackening off over the silly season. Friday 17th November saw another stellar lineup grace the decks. Deekline & Wizard and Disco D were busy hotting up Laundry, whilst Bitrok and the Sound Advice DJs were slamming it down in the Cave.
The night was kick-started by local super stars The Impossibles. You can hardly class these guys as a warm-up act with their cheeky grins, brilliant mash-ups and inspired MCing. Once the foreplay was over, Disco D jumped on the decks to tease the crowd with a tight set of ghettotech. Chuck together some hip hop, grimey breaks, DnB, tech beats, rumbling basslines and lyrics that should come slapped with an R rating and you can pretty much sum up this set. Owning on Serato, Disco D had the dance floor pumping. After two hours of intense musical pleasure, Disco D handed over the reigns to Deekline and Wizard. Known for their shattering basslines, these boys worked the crowd with tearout specials (remix of Prodigy – Outta Space anyone?!) The Laundry floor was jigging with sweaty bodies throughout the night and, interestingly, a sizeable contingent of ladies for Disco D! Meanwhile, those brave souls willing to leave Laundry were heartily rewarded. Bitrok and Sound Advice DJs exercised the Cave’s sound system to the max, pummelling out tunes like ‘Slam’ and some nasty (in a good way!) DnB. Adam Freeland remix… if you were there you’ll understand! Thankfully the Cave’s ear bleeding sound system had been switched to an enjoyable level for the night – let us hope it stays like that in future.
The crowd was amped, the tunes were tasty, the shenanigans messy. At closing time they were hustling a good size crowd out the door, testimony to the rockin’ beats that were dropped until the very end. And I am sure everyone went home for that sated sleep which follows a satisfying bout of musical sex!
