Any party with ‘ITM’ in the title is bound to be an occasion where uttering “what’s your username?” was an icebreaker and chinstroking was widely accepted as a new dance move, and the inthemix Christmas party At YU’s new Saturday night Beware the Cat was no different.

Upon arrival there were many ITM’ers to meet. But naturally, first I headed straight to the bar for a Schmirnoff and to cash in one of the drink vouchers I had been given upon entering. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the bar service: the lines were huge but everyone was being quickly served. Spirits were poured quickly (and generously) and bottles opened in record time. All in all it was great bar service for a very busy night and the staff deserved all the tips given to them.

While it’s true many might not have showed up for the DJ lineup alone, it was a nonetheless a great selection of locals with some solid names that included Ash Le Rouge, The Heat, Trent Rackus and Brenden Fing. For the most part their track selection would have kept even the most jaded ITM forum poster happy, except when one DJ happened to drop Put Your Hands up For Detroit. “Put your hands up if your a f*&king idiot more like it,” I heard a few people mumble. Other than that the tunes were solid, the floor was filled with dancers all night, punters were having a great time and the place had a very friendly vibe going. The promise of free drinks lasted much longer than predicted and the night was organised well, with ITMers having few issues getting in to the club.

The punters were extremely friendly during the night, with the mixture of ITMers and the general public making for a very enjoyable evening. Everyone was chatty with very little attitude, and the few ‘heroes’ that were inside soon realised that nobody cared and quickly quietened down. Everyone was happy to chat about anything and everything, be it forum jokes, sport, women or the subtle art of chinstroking. It was great to put names to faces and faces to names.

This was my first time at YU since the venue was renovated and not a lot has changed, but my favourite addition would have to be the ‘sexy’ wallpaper in the toilets. Awesome touch. The security were friendly and it was a great night over all, very well organised and the cause of many painful Sunday morning hangovers for those who attended. Thanks to everyone who made it a great night, for those who organised it and to ITM for putting it all together! Merry Xmas all, have a safe holiday season and see you all next year!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!

I think I groaned loud enough for everyone, when I heard Fedde Le Grande. "Put your hands up for the Tards!"
