It was the day after Christmas, and all through the Laundry it was quiet… well quiet until about 5.30pm when Chris Fraser started on the decks. Upstairs the tracks were already flowing and the weather was ideal to listen to the sounds of Mo Funk and then Impact, busting it out in the courtyard.

Downstairs slowly started seeing the numbers pass through the door, not a huge crowd by any extent, but a crowd who looked like they had came to make every effort to party and enjoy what was probably their last day off before heading back to work. Chris Fraser warmed up the main room of the Laundry nicely with some smooth funky tunes to get things underway. A blend of funk and tech which also combined a couple of deep and soulful tracks had the Laundry filling up in no time. A couple of tracks which were easily remembered included, Bryan Jones’s ‘Chicago Jack’, Toby Neal’s ‘Want My Love’ and Chris Lake’s ‘Shake’.

With crowd numbers not as high as desired, the promoter made the decision to leave the Cave closed for the night and move some of the sets to Laundry’s main room. This in turn made way for a fine range of diverse music and an awesome atmosphere, which the punters relished. Reno hopped on the decks, and even some of the harder to please punters were treated with some techno infused sounds, including tracks such as Paul Woolford’s ‘Erotic Discourse’. Mattt and Thomasss also had their opportunity in the main room, while Laundry’s favourite man on the mic, Forey, warmed up the room with some of his usual antics before it was time for Tim Healey from Coburn.

Healey played probably what most people expected, big room party tracks that kept everyone entertained and satisfied. Tracks included Ferry Corsten’s ‘Junk’, Blur’s ‘Song 2’, and other tracks that extended from electro-house, to funky house, whilst infusing other elements of various dance music genres. But what was more disappointing was that the expectation of Tim Healey actually playing Coburn’s hit track ‘We Interrupt This Programme’ was hindered… when it wasn’t played at all! Maybe being an idealist, it would have been pretty gratifying to see Tim busting out the track as a encore, but alas it was not to be the case.

All in all, it was a pretty awesome way to spend the Boxing Day afternoon. A visit to the Laundry never disappoints and the 10pm finish was really forgiving for what was another day back at work on Wednesday.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
