His first trip to Australia has exceded all his expectations and last night Groove Diggerz took to the stage one last time before heading back to the bitter cold to thank the people of Perth.
Philly took the warm up duties and displayed (again) why he is one of the best going around. His classy display of mixing saw tracks such as Open – Secret Groove (Malente Mix), Young Punx – Rockall (Phonat Remix) mixed seemlessly building steady tension till Groove Diggerz took to the stage.
Groove Diggerz showed why he’s favourite to win breakthrough producer at Breakspoll this year. Having an immediate impact upon the dancefloor he delivered a unique brand of breaks which could be described as electro fuelled funk. Before hearing his set the first time at “The Day at the Deen” on New Years Day, I had not heard 80% of these tracks. Finding out that almost all of this were his own productions or tracks coming out on his 2 labels (Even Flow and Breakin Even) in the next 6 months is mind blowing and the world of breaks is surely in good hands. Two tracks that are ones to look out for in the next few months are “Live for the weekend” and an AWB remix by Groove Diggerz. A personal favourite was Drummattic Twins – “Hyperspeed” which is my early pick for breaks tune of the year. After losing half a kilo in weight from the work out behind the decks he left to applause as the Loose Screws took to the stage.
The energy from the Loose Screws was amazing as they lifted the vibe and held a steady crowd till the very end. Their dancing antics on stage was matched by their pumping tracks and they gained a number of fans.
All in all a top night, the perfect way to finish a weekend. Thanks Groove Diggerz, will be locking you in the diary next year!
