What a spectacular night! Not only was the venue tip top, it was a very auspicious evening too. I arrived during the set of Prizzy (who was prizzy good! hee hee). The crowd was flowing through nicely, while Prizzy impressed us with some favourable tunes, most of the crowd was in awe of the magnificent stage set up. The lighting was fabulous, as were the screens that showed the Dj’s in action. There was one large screen for those at the back accompanied by two smaller versions for the people down the front. As you walked through the main gates, you were also confronted by the large display on the wall, it all looked rather funky & if you weren’t there then you missed out.
As I took in the surroundings, aquatinted myself with the bar & the amenities it was time for Wish.
It was still quite early by all accounts, so as more people arrived I had a wander around to pick up the general vibes. Most seemed happy enough casually bopping along yet it wasn’t the lead up that most expected & the overall view of the people I spoke with was that it lacked flow. Yet the night was still young & really, it was only going to get better.
I continued on my mission & everyone loved the place, it really worked well & the time & effort put in was highly noticeable. There was plenty of staff walking around through the evening, collecting the empties and litter. The ladies were immaculate, yet you still had to cue for a little while. It was mentioned that the portaloos didn’t have any water to wash your hands, yet I used three different ones out of the six & found them to be clean and have washing facilities. You win some, lose some! Overall, it was the opinion of most that the venue was great & I will definitely go back for more! The whole “inner city but outdoors vibe” really made the night as you had plenty of room to dance & didn’t have to look for the aircon outlet to cool off.
With that, Wish finished his set (10 minutes early?) to make way for The Plumps. The crowd roared & the serious stomping began. They played an amazing set & it was good to see them both together having so much fun. The only track I could identify was “Mad Cow” which was one of their latest. They didn’t play anything from Eargasm. With their hands up in the air, getting the crowd going, it was easy to sense that everybody was having a great time. The visuals were mesmerising & I loved the footage. The sights & the sounds really hit top marks with me, there were a few mistakes, yet you cant do much if the tune jumps around a bit & it was quickly rectified by the boys.
The Plumps set seemed to fly by, yet it does when you’re having fun. They both held the reigns equally & certainly got us into the groove. It was fun to watch them lip sync to particular tracks just as they came in & classic on the air drums too!
Playing the last set was Tone v Micah. Wow, they really did top it all off with a bang. One of the tunes noted by Sparkling Sam was one of her favourites, exceeder- Mason. Yet an all time hit with everyone was the remix from Royksopp – The Understanding album (it was me in that boat) the name of the track eludes me at present (Sorry). I love that track though! The last set was exceptional; Micah & Tone really did the honours & polished off the night with some great choice of tunes. Thanks guys, you made it a bonzer night! Additional Thanks to SS & AA for their input. Over & Out.
