Another night of aural mastery from the local maestros of a super expansive repertoire. Enchanted in all their glory Bomba dispensed a miscellany of euphoric rhythms and mellifluent melodies utilizing the intimate Gershwin room to rhapsodize the advancing crowds appetite covering all bases and leaving no stone unturned.

Incorporated with the adroit concordance of trumpet, singer, saxophone, keyboard, drums, a quirky and peculiar protractible wooden flute like device (reminiscent of Krusty the Clown sideshow Mel’s iconic instrument), a guest singer who evoked an analogy of a super-funky Slim Dusty look-alike, obviously a well known local veteran, a voice distortion contraption which proved to be extremely effective amongst the cadence, and then some. Decor was simple and unadorned though flashy effects would have been redundant.

A truly evocative stimulus disseminated amongst the diverse concourse of Melbournians, travellers and worldwide revellers, so much so that the virtuoso’s definitively exceeded their scheduled set time by about 40 minutes concurrent with the splendour and exuberance of all that attended.

‘Beyond Ordinary Melbourne Band Acts’ is my tentative acronym for these smooth sonic superlatives. Their reggae infused deep-rooted synergy and congruous energy created a superb soundscape and ritzy aura to propitiate even the most rhythmically resistant of characters.

The acoustics juxtaposed with the dim lighting evoked a laudable recognition to the shrewd ingenuity that accentuated the reputable masters at work. Reviving classic material with their own vast array of paramount Skank style dispersions.

Indeed it was an eclectic and memorable night deduced by the levity and buoyancy of the vibe manifested. I implore that y’all Check em out when they next play. A must to muster in Melbournia or wherever ya dwell. Homage to the Skanksters.
